Thousands of motorsport fans have paid their final respects to fallen racing legend Peter Brock at the Bathurst 1000 event at Mount Panorama.
Tears flowed freely amongst family, friends and fans at the emotional tribute held at the circuit where the Brock legend was born.
Brock's son James led a procession of eight of Peter Perfect's nine Bathurst winning cars in a parade around the circuit.
James shed tears as he told the crowd how amazed he was at the influence his dad had on so many people, while current V8 driver Craig Lowndes was also overcome with emotion as he drove in the parade lap.
Every driver and pit crew member from all V8 teams lined pit lane in respect to their former colleague, rival and friend.
Brock died in a rallying accident in Western Australia last month. Although there has been a state funeral service in Melbourne and tribute at Sandown - today's tribute finally represents closure for many of those closest to the champion. |

| He was a legend, but as a hardcore fan of WRC and the Subaru World Rally Team, I forgot to honour Richard Burns, who died of a brain tumour he had been having an on going battle with since 2004. He passed on November 25th, 2005. He was 34. It didn't make much publicity as the famous Irish footballer/alcoholic George Best passed away on the same day. Burns is a legend amongst the Subaru World Rally team because he won the world championship in 2001. Burns was to return to the wheel of the impreza in 2004..but the cancer took over :( |
