fender dent - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi guys,

So some idiot hit my precious Murano the other night, the car was parked and I think it happened during the night. The dent is in the fender, it's not major but paint did come off. It's seems the primer is still there, but a little bit of rust is building. I don't want to fix the fender right now, but I don't want rust to eat through the metal.
Should I just put some paint on the spot where paint came off or send it, prime it and paint it?

thanks a lot,

Get it covered soon!

If this just happened the other night and rust is already forming.......

Since it sounds like your doing this yourself, at the very least I would gently sand off any signs of rust and give it a couple of coats of primer, then a finish coat to match the color as best as you can.

good Luck

thanks, that's what I thought. Will do it today.

I like to use a small Dremel tool with a rotary wire brush to remove it to down to the metal. I think apply primer, a coat or two of paint and after that dries then I overlay the area slightly with clear nail polish.

I've also had great luck with Duro Extend. You can put it on straight away, no sanding or anything. It catalyzes rust into plastic.

I put it on a very rusty spot on an old VW buss on the top and painted white over it. I had the buss 3 more years and it never bled through.

It's kind of ugly though, turns a dark purple if you have mixed it right and applied it well.

Go ask a body shop what to do.
They will probably spray it for you on the cheap.

If you do "other things" you leave your self open to the inevitable "What the *(^&*%&% did you put on that fender", when it comes time to get it fixed properly.
