1:59 lap for a Honda S2000, 2:02 for the MO!! That is unreal. I wonder how the MO would do without the rubber band tranny.
bigdongers
Wow that thing looked Hot! loved the interior and the wheels.

I am no good with my conversions. How does the power output compare with say a porsche cayenne turbo or similar SUV?
njjoe
Three seconds slower than a S2000 on a 2-mile track is pretty damn good. That differential could almost be attributed to her unfamiliarity with the Super-MO.

I was surprised when she commented that the CVT was noisy. Maybe it exhibits different characteristics when 345 BHP are routed through it.

It's a nice test mule, but I am doubtful it will ever see light of day. I would suspect a 40% increase in horsepower would have a significant impact on the longevity of the CVT.

Please build it Nissan!

A power to weight ratio = S2000, Factory 22's & huge disk brakes.

I could do without the green murano glass shifter knob & tray, but the 2 tone seats & rear wing worked.

Wow!
That has really got me excited!

No, not the stupid one off car...............

Alright, I've owned both....(obviously not a GTC) and I've got to call BS somewhere on this?

I LOVE my Murano but to keep up w/ an S2k on the track? Come on! The S is a nimble, raw true sports car that corners like a demon once you get the feel of rotating it's pretty rear end around and kept in the right rev-range will really scream. Even w/ another 100HP and some tighter suspension I find it REAL hard to believe that a MO could come close to sticking those curves (we won't get into the way it must "feel" trying to hang on at a track). We need fine print somewhere.

That said, I'd trade my SL in on a GTC in a HEARTBEAT :D

I own both the MO (no, not the GTC) and S as well, so I can appreciate them both. Hard to say if the S was being driven 10/10ths From experience I can say that around a course like that, if you let the RPMs drop below 5K on more than a few occasions, you are competing in a RWD Civic. This is true even with the blower on my car because it doesn't really come into play until you're on the high RPM cam.

Not saying anything bad about the MO GTC, it looks like they did it right in their choice of upgrades. Most impressive is mitigating the understeer of a 4000lb (I would think more with the wheels/tires/turbo) SUV with that much torque to the front wheels. I would think that would be a handful at a roadcourse. Anyway, the GTC is impressive indeed. Goes to show that for $ you can make just about any car perform however you want.

Gratuitous engine bay shot of my S

Halo....you are making me drool

selling my beautiful girl is close to top of my life's boneheaded moves!!!

(gratuitous showing off of my own)

But I think the new baby could probably take the Mo too ;)
Kris
sobamanismo,

you are killing me with the Infiniti! :claphead:
sobamanismo
Thanks Kris

Unfortunately we sold that perfect set of lovelies for the Mo and Z  It's a long tale of regrettable decisions.

(I know, everyone should have such things to complain about)
KSmurano
But which car do you park under the S2000 graphics in the garage?
sobamanismo
Well....I gave the aluminum graphics to a fellow S2K owner after I sold her when we sold that house. I don't currently have a Honda but the Honda race banner still hangs in my new garage next to the Z :D

I wanna know how you can keep your garage so clean?

Where's all the stuff?
Tools?
Beer Fridge?
Old paint cans?
Camping crap?
etc. etc. etc.???

I'd post a photo of my garage but my camera is lost in there somewhere.....
sobamanismo
Does this make you feel better?

2 words for you buddy.....ANAL RETENTIVE :2:

My wife gets me, I have an office and the Garage, the rest of the house we do whatever she wants. She helped me paint it BTW. Never got around to doing the floor like I wanted before we flipped that house :( My honda mower has a valve cover that matched my S.

(My apologies to the thread starter for taking this so far off topic!)

Awesome. I've got this week's ep of Fifth Gear sitting on my PC right now but haven't had time to watch it. Guess I will have to tonight!
Kris

question for the next video within the playlist..."top gear nissan murano"
i guess this was a first intro into europe with the murano. anyways, my question is that half way through the program (around 2:40) they showed the murano with the back gate opening by itself!! is that an option that you can get in europe?!?!?
Eric L.
Just watched the episode of Fifth Gear. As usual Tim Lovejoy ruined the show, but the Tiff segment where he manhandled the Gallardo Spyder was fun. VBH driving the MO GTC, well she wasn't that enthusiastic about it, but still fun to see the MO being thrown in the corners. Also interesting to see that the CVT can handle 345hp (but we did note in another thread that even the GTC is torque limited to protect the transmission).

The 3 second gap was very impressive. With a 2.1 mile track, that meant that the S2000 lapped at ~63.5mph average, and hte MO at 62.5mph. Thats stellar!
Kris
Eric,

you right she wasn't thrilled but she was comparing Murano with an almost true sports car. And Murano did quite well in this compo. At least that the impression I got.
Murano_driver
WOW. That video is impressive. Now how I can get one?

Well, seeing as this is a limited production one-off, you'd have to have one made. That being said, the time and expense in doing so would approach just getting a Cayenne Turbo. In that case any modded Murano would be only a distant memory.

I'd be curious how the CVT does over the long haul with that much power. Not saying it's definitely going to fail, but a few laps around the track for what is basically a show car is hardly testament to how it would behave as a daily driver after a couple of years.

If such a car ever came into production, I'd bet NISSAN would dodge all kinds of warranty claims and blame failures on "driver abuse" as many car companies have been known to do with their high performance models.

4X4? A Murano? You'd most certainly get laughed at, pretty hard, if you showed up somewhere where a real 4X4 was required.

That website still quotes horsepower wrong. You cannot have "max torque of 265 lb/ft at a lower RPM and 340ps at 6000 rpm," more like 7000 rpm if the torque is limited ot 265 to save the CVT. Do the math.
