Well I finally got my hands on a Murano :2: !! Its a 05 S and since I bought it used at a Lexus dealer they couldn't tell me too much about the specs. So here are some questions for you pros:
I have Security indicator light (the red light with a car with a key in it) that is always blinking when the car is off...what is it??
(I wasnt given a smart key with car if that helps...)
My car doenst lock after the supposed 5 mins after the car is turned off.....Im I doing something wrong when programming the "preferences" option???
Thanks you guys!! |

I have an 05 MO too. The little car indicator constantly blinks also. Also, my car does not lock after 5 minutes. Did you read about this feature somewhere? I don't ever recall reading about it in the manual.
These are minor things and will bug the heck out of you if you keep worrying about them. Just enjoy your car.

joshuav-
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase of your MO.
If you turn to page 2-15 in your Owners Manual you will see that the indicator light in question is called the Security Indicator Light. This light blinks whenever the ignition switch is in the LOCK, OFF, or ACC position.
The "locking feature" does not lock the doors while the car is underway. When activated through the Control Panel the feature will relock the doors if you unlock the doors remotely but do not open a door within the 5 minute period.
Enjoy your new MO.

| Thanks! I read the manual but I wasnt sure if the original owner didnt turn in the smart key with the car (I had to buy a remote off of e-bay!) and maybe the dealer disabled some security feature....Now all I need to do is find a cargo net and a tan cargo visor somewhere!! Thanks you guys!!! |

If by cargo visor, you mean the roll up cover thing that conceals the contents of the rear-hatch. Don't bother. It's the only thing that squeaks when installed in the MO.
Check my gallery for my "abra cadabra security shield" Costs less and works better!

When you say "Smart Key" are you referring to Nissan's Intelligent Key or to a simple key fob?

I thought the "visor" was cool for the first month or so. But I had to take it out whenever I put big stuff in or folded down the rear seats (it clips to the rear seats), and I was constantly putting it in and taking it out. I finally put it up on a shelf in my garage, and it's stayed there for over a year.
Same with the cargo net. I have it rolled up and in one of the compartments in the back, just in case I'll ever find it useful.
They are two things, in my opinion, that are nice, but bothersome. I agree with Mr3Putt, get a nice colored blanket to use if you really want privacy. Much easier to use.
They came with the car, so I'm happy to have them. I'd never pay what Nissan claims they are worth.
Rather than the cargo net, look for the storage organizer. See my gallery, and there are a couple threads about it. Now THAT accessory is DEFINITELY worth the price tag. I think I paid around $100 for it, and I use it ALL THE TIME. |

I meant the intellegent key....I wasnt sure if it came with one (the car salesman "didnt know" too much about the car...) and I thought that what the light was about...And the cargo organizer looks great!!! might have to get that one next month!! |

Josh-
The Intelligent Key option enables you to unlock the doors and turn on the car without ever taking the key out of your pocket. Not all MOs come equipped with this option.
