I have AMD Athlon x2 and am considering Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. Mostly for photo editing and future upgrade to office 2003. Any advices? I do run 2GB RAM and 250GB HDD. Is it worth it? Any problems with compatbility with pheriperals? Antivirus software?
Thanks |

Wait until Vista comes out. I'm not saying you should get Vista, but wait until it comes out.
When it does, you can decide between Vista or picking up a (relatively) cheap copy of XP x64 off of Craigslist. |

Thanks Corin,
I have just downloaded Vista beta version - 2.5GB ISO image. As I have two HDD I may try install them on one off the disks just for evaluation. What worries me is compatibility with some of the pheriperals... |

Kris-
On the MS Vista website you can download a program that will examine your PC and let you know if it is capable of supporting Vista and will also alert you to conflicts. I ran it a few days ago and learned my McAfee suite and Zone Alarm Pro were not compatible with Vista. Apparently that is quickly becoming an issue.

Thanks Joe,
I have already done it. Actually I am writing this message from VISTA! Just loaded Vista on my second HDD. I like the look of it. Unfortunately there appears to be more incompatibility than the initial scan detected....I guess I will be going back to my primary HDD soon. |

Well, hey, it's a new MS product, and in beta form no less. What did you expect????
I wait on ALL MS products until at least 2 service packs are released. |
