I have a gold '06, 3 1/2 months, I wash by hand almost every week. A bird had an encounter with my hood 2 days ago, which I washed off today... It left a brown stain about the size of a quarter, and actually has created a bump on the clear coat like I have never seen before.
I tried a small bit of wax, and then tried clear coat nu finish, and nothing is working on this. I am taking it to the dealer , but I was curious if anyone has heard of ay issues. |

What the hell do you feed those birds in Philly?
I have heard of bird droppings leaving a "shadow" on the paint if not removed promptly, but I have never heard of the clear-coat bubbling.
Let us know what the dealer says.

| I went to the dealer yesterday who told me that there is nothing they can do. They said that birds who feed at landfills have lethal waste and they are all over the area. I went to a body shop after I left the dealer and they told me the same thing, and to get bird poop and wet leaves off the finish of the vehicle ASAP. Also get a real good coat of wax the vehicle to help protect the clearcoat,. |

Man- sorry to hear that. This Nissan paint is just to fragile. I clean that crap off as soon as I see it. Even then you have to be careful not to rub it or you'll scratch the finish.
You could check your insurance policy- I had the hood repainted on a toyota which was damaged by a flying stone on the highway. They covered under my comprehensive so it was fairly painless. Not sure if they'd cover bird crap though. |

Thanks for the heads up. I figure I will wait through the winter and then see what kind of damage is there. After this weather clears I'll put a nice coat of wax on the car.
