Motor mount clicking noise - Click HERE for Original Thread

I'm new here and I'm hoping to get some help. We're getting the runaround from the Nissan regional manager who has responded to our problem with our '06 Murano SL. He says that the 'clicking' noise which we hear from the motor mounts is normal. We've replied that had we heard this noise when we drove the demo we never would've leased the vehicle. (BTW, the noise was diagnosed by the dealer, not us. We simply reported it.)
This is a noise that is very apparent whether or not the car is in gear, and can be heard above the sound of the radio at times.
They told us nobody has ever complained about this but us.
I don't get it. I've never owned or even riden in a new vehicle that makes this noise, regardless where it comes from and I can't believe nobody else has never complained about it.

Whatever the cause. the sound is not normal. If the dealer reported it as abnormal, why don't they repair it under warranty?

Sorry, what I neglected to state was that they actually did replace the rear mount and that new one also makes the same noise. They then said that they test drove several new Muranos on their lot as well as a used trade-in. The result? The dealer said they all make that noise, so it must be ok. Before the complaint got to the level it's at now, they contacted the guys in Nashville, where they told me their new tech center is, who also supposedly said that the noise is normal and acceptable.

steve57-

I suggest you take a drive in one of their other MOs to confirm you are both talking about the same noise.

The front engine mount is electronically controlled and has two settings - hard and soft. The transition point is at 950 RPM. If you are hearing the clicking at any other RPM then it is not the engine mount.

Personally, I don't hear it at all on my MO.

They reported that they replaced the rear mount. I'll take your advice, drive a couple for myself and see what I discover.
Thanks for your help.

I agree with njjoe.... go for a ride and be sure everyone is on the same page. My MO doesn't make any such noise even at 950 RPM.

In 2004 when my Mo was fairly new, it made a very distinct click on accel and decel. I was able to reproduce it with the engine off and tranny in park and rock it with my knee against the front bumper. I had to get it oscillating pretty good before it clicked, but there it was, very reproducable.
They tightened the motor mounts (all) and the rack, that fixed it. I have never heard it again.

Perhaps this is it?

I do not hear any noises in my 03 SL. And I drive quite often with the radio off so I can enjoy silence. Oh, and i have 65k miles on it...

Do what Joe suggested. It is normal for Nissan dealers to say "every Murano does it" if they cannot fix the problem. The Nissan tech center always supports them without even checking the Murano. When I was having a problem, a young, naive and rude girl from Nissan tech center told me "onus is on you to prove the problem"....and I did. After that they apologized but Nissan lost respect in my eyes. And the dealer lost a loyal customer....

Do not quit. Be persistent. It pays off....
