Future of Murano - New Models - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi, I'm consering buying a Murano on Jan 2007 but want to know the roadmap for this car as I heard a rumor that this model will be changed (in Nov 2007).
This is important as I don't want to invest in 2007 in a model which will become Old one year after.
Does anybody anything about the future of Murano and new models?

I'm almost certain that I read somewhere that the 08 murano will be a total redesign. I mean 2003-2007 is pretty long... :)

The MO is still a fresh design, one that is still being copied by other manufacturers. And since the MO is enjoying record sales I doubt there will any significant changes in the next year or two. My guess is there will be enhancements (i.e. Bluetooth, MP3, etc.) and cosmetic changes (different wheels, grille, chrome, etc.) to freshen it up for the new model years, but no major sheet metal changes.

That's just one guy's opinion.

There have been no offcial press releases by Nissan about when the next major redesign is to happen. Apart from that, everything else is rumor. If not driving the latest design bothers you that much, look at the MDX which is at the beginning of a new design cycle and should be good for a few years more. Keep in mind that there will always be a newer model 1 year later, even if not a complete redesign, it will have tweaks and improvements, sometimes major ones (like the weak steering pumps of early MOs).

Halo, what models are you refering to for the weak steering pumps of early MOs?

The '03 MOs were equipped with a power steering pump that was inadequate, just ask Homer. I think the '04 models also may have suffered from the same problem.

That is true.
The 03s and 04s have the same issue. I hesitate to call it a "problem".....but..........it definitly is an "issue".

Several people here discovered that if you were driving slowly and whipped the wheel hard left or hard right, the Power Steering........."went away"!
I almost crunched my new Murano the first time I tried to parallel park it.
Others had near misses in parking lots.

Then Consumer reports came out with their test of the 2003 and said the Murano was wonderful and would be "recommended" except that the steering was dangerous due to this problem.
Nissan did not agree.

That's when I found out that calling NNA was akin to peeing up a drain pipe and trying to keep your feet dry.
It was a complete and utter waste of time.
MOST of the time they would not return calls.
I declared the Nissan a good car and Nissan much worse than ANY domestic automaker as a car company. I still feel this is true.

So in 2004 Consumer Reports said the same thing.

In 2005 Nissan replaced the weak PS pump and CR gave the Murano the coveted "recommended" rating.

Nissan still claims that there was nothing wrong with the PS pumps on the 03s and 04s!
Why did they change it out?
Nissan REFUSES to answer.

My car is like the little girl that lives in the lane.
When she is good, she is very, very good.
When she is bad she is horrid.

Best car I have ever owned in many respects.
6 failures in the first 6 months and a total of 7 failures in the first 3 yrs hurts that image.

Then there is the weak PS pump and the sun roof that doesn't open all the way.............following the initial disappointment on the SAT radio..........

All adds up to my being hot and cold on the car, and decidedly anti Nissan, the car company.
It would be a miracle if I EVER buy another car from these bozos.

Bottom line: IF you have an 03 and 04 be very careful when performing very hard lefts or very hard rights at ANY speed.

You have quite a way of putting things! :2:

Question: Can an 03 or 04 PS pump be replaced with a newer pump?

Is it just the pump, or is there more involved?

I see your point about buying a new model (new look) MO - if available in 2007. The downside though is that you are more likely to have body-related issues each time you have a make over - something to keep in mind.
