I usually stop by a fireworks stand and get my boys goodies when I go to either Tennessee or Alabama. We usually end up making something out of a bunch of stuff cut apart and glued together. Most of the times they are duds, sometimes we scare ourselves.
Last year one of my kids got the bright idea to take the grip off a ski pole and put a firecracker down it followed by a marble. Usually the marble would go up about 30 feet and be caught by hand. Sometimes we lucked out with a good cracker and launched one 100 feet or so.
Last week my youngest did this strange thing. He put a fire cracker in the end of a plastic bottle rocket, you know, the whistling moon travelers. He threw it in one of the many chipmunk holes out front and BAM, it made a darn good bang.
Yesterday we decided to cut one of the crackers off at the powder and pack it firmly in the bottle rocket motor and drop it lit into the ski pole followed by a marble.
Holy $HIT! We made a musket!
We made up a few to see if we could do it every time. My 16 year old shot a pine tree 200 yards away with less than a second travel time!
WOW, can’t wait to take this thing to the in laws on the lake because around here, we can’t tell the range of it.
hahahaha
PS, don't worry, I am watching for over pressure. |
