well, i had the opportunity tonight to go to an exclusive gala event at the infiniti dealer in our city for the unveiling of the new G35.
it definitely is a revolution of the outgoing model; more sleek and refined. the interior and exterior quality has been stepped up substantially. all exterior gaps are the same throughout the seem and interior parts are put together very tightly. now they only had 2 g35x's, no base model or sport model. one of the x's had the 'washi' aluminum interior which i greatly preferred over the real rosewood trim. the leather is supple, much like what the leather feels like in the Lexus IS350. controls are well laid out and all easily accessible and very functional. i like the simplicity of the infiniti controller. although i didn't have a chance to sample the new Bose sound system, it's supposed to be state of the art considering the doors were actually designed to compliment the speakers. the cockpit is front driver and front passenger oriented: some people may find it a bit snug but i think it feels very sporty and makes the G feel like a drivers car.
the exterior is very sleek and sporty and the fluid lines make the g look much larger than it really is. considering that, it isn't much shorter than the M but the M has substantially more rear seat leg room. there are no body side moldings and very few sheet-metal creases; some may argue that this makes it look boring and unattractive while i find it very modern and elegant. i noticed that infiniti is finally lining the rear wheel wells with a thick felt cloth material to reduce the noises of rocks and water swishing and knocking in the wells. this is something that's been done by VW and Audi and several other European manufacturers for years now and i'm very excited that Nissan and infiniti are finally noticing that this helps. the thing i was mainly disappointed with was that the attractive stock 17 inch hyper silver dual 5 spoke wheels were wrapped it Goodyear eagle RS-A tires. i didn't like this because of my major dislike of Goodyear tires and the fact that they(the rs-a's especially) are very loud tires.
Overall the new G is a very attractive, modern, elegant, and finally, well constructed car. anyone in the segment for a mid-size luxury sports sedan with a stunning 306 hp V6 engine acclaimed by wards to be 10 best for 12 years running should definitely look into this before you go check out a bimmer. |

| no unfortunatly i didn't get a chance to drive it because both where customer pre-orders(shows that we need the AWD up here haha). i would have loved to experience the next generation VQ engine and apparently the exhaust is astounding. |
