'06 Day vs Night Screen setting? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Have I goofed a setting somewhere that I'm not seeing? Seems like more often than not lately my display screen needs to be manually changed to the day or night setting.

I thought when I first got the car it seemed to "know" when it was supposed to be on the day or night setting?

I believe that the night setting is on when the light come/are on. You can change it to what you like.

If you change it to the DAY setting when your lights are on, then it goes into an "override" mode. In order to get out of that, I believe you have to let the lights automatically come on (cover the sensor) and then manually change it to night mode, and then it goes back to automatic.

At least I think that's how it works. I've noticed that happening a couple times and it seems to correct itself at nighttime.

I don't think it has to do with the Auto setting but rather when you set it in regards to wether the parking/headlights are on.

If you turn on your parking/headlights set it do night, turn off the lights and set the display to day you should be back to normal.

Gonzo is right. To clear it up, it's a manual setting, one each for lights off and on. You can set it to night or day with the lights off, and it will remember that. You can set it to night or day with the lights on and it will remember that.

It will also remember the value for both the day and night setting, separately for lights on or off.

I do the following:

lights off:
night: brightness 0
day: brightness 8

lights on:
night: brightness 3
day: brightness full

then switch manually depending on whether it's light or dark (I always drive with my lights on, so the lights off setting is for when I'm "parking").

Thanks guys, I'll see if I can reset it when the Mo gets home :).

I know this got goofed up in a situation of twilight when my auto-headlights came on but I still wanted the display to fully bright and changed it.
