HELP! Rustproofing - Purchased at Village Nissan in Markham Ontario - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi guys, I really need your help here.

Village Nissan - Markham Ont.

For those who purchased MO from Village Nissan along with Rustproofing.

Here is the situation.

I bought MO back in Dec of 2003 brand new from Village Nissan.
I was sold the a package which consist of RUSTPROOFING with Lifetime Warranty and Frabric Protection thru SYM-TECH

I paid a premium for this and was told that I have to take the car to FX Auto for an inspection every 2 years.

I was told I will not be charge for the inspection. Zero, nothing.

The only charge that might incur is if my car is so dirty inside out that FX Auto would have to clean it inorder to do the inspection/ touch ups, would be 50.00 (to clean the car). This was confirmed by the sales person who sold as the car because he had to translate to my parents.

I took the car in for the inspection and was charged 50.00
My car was clean inside out before taking it to them.

I questioned the people at FX Auto and was told that 50.00 inspection fee everytimg, nothing to do with the car being dirty or not.

I went back to Nissan to questions this and was told "No, you have to pay everytime, you probably misunderstood.

My parents were with me when we bought this, and they don't speak english very well, so we had the asian salesperson who sold us the car translate.

I even called the sales person who now works for another Nissan Dealer and asked him about it.
He said right away, "you only pay the 50.00 if your car is dirty and requires a clean up."

Still the General Manager who sold me this thinks I misunderstood him.

On the contract from SYM-TECH, it does NOT state anything about a 50.00 fee everytime I take it in for inspection.
The only 50.00 on the contract is for a transfer fee if I sold my car.

Funny thing is I have the same protection also from SYM-TECH on my 2004 Acura TL.
I don't have to pay anything for inspection and touch ups.

If anyone here knows anything about this product and its details sold by Village, please let me know.

Much appreciated.

:3For what its worth my 2 cents as a retired Auto BodyMan. Automotive undercoating is just another way to get into your WALLET Along with the super polymer So CALLED Paint protectors. The way New cars are built now they have Rust protected inner panels. And It is Just a RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!

I assume you got a contract and/or agreement when you purchased the rust-proofing and interior protection from Sym-Tech. Pull out those documents and take them to FX Auto and have them point out to you exactly where it states the $50 fee is required for the inspection. I would them ask for my money back and then contact Sym-Tech and let them know that one of their representatives is using deceptive practices.

And next time you buy a new car, do NOT purchase a rust-proofing or interior protection package. It is not needed. When was the last time you saw a 10 year old car with rusted out body panels?

If its not in the contract then you shouldn't have to pay... pretty simple.

Njjoe, my 1989 Pulsar was a rust bucket.... the the engine compartment, rocker panels, hatch etc. The car ran great but the car was rust... my Dad's 1990 Pulsar same issue in the same areas.

I almost didn't buy the MO due to the bad rusting of my previous Nissan.

Would I buy rust proofing in light of this... nope. I'm with you guys on this, not worth the money but if you do hopefully it wouldn't hurt and only will help.

Don't they first write you a service estimate before you pay? If I took a clean car in for a free inspection and the service estimate said $50.00, I would either say "its clean, so remove the charge" or I would just leave and forgo the inspection.

In either case, now that the damage is done, I would produce the contract and have a chat with the manager at FX Auto.

I agree with everyone else above - fabric protectors and rust proofing - its just profit for the dealer. New cars don't need it.
