Passenger Side Wiper - Click HERE for Original Thread

The wiper blade on my passenger side doesn't seem to do as good a job at clearing water from the windshield like the driver's side does. The passenger side seems a bit streaky and hazy. I just wonder if using the washing fluid at gas stations may have affected it. The solution always seems a bit greasy to me, but the driver's side seems good. The blades were replaced several months ago.

Is there a way to adjust the blade so that it fits the contour of the windshield better? I am wondering if this is some sort of issue with the pressure applied on the passenger side not being equal to that on the driver's side.

elliotgb-

It is doubtful it is the washer fluid because then it would also have affected the driver-side.

I suggest cleaning the glass very well to remove any road oil that may have been kicked up onto the glass, then applying a coat or two of Rain-X. That may just do the trick.

Good luck.

I would also suggest cleaning the blade itself too... if that fails then replace both sets of blades with OEM blades.

Great suggestions, thanks, I'll try them as soon as I can.

Since that blade is now probably shot replace both with some new "Good" blades. Maybe silicone?

I have replaced mine with the new teflon edge wipers, the right side still sucks. I think they need more spring in that wiper arm. I noticed very soon after I had the Mo that the right side did not do as good a job as the left.

I have always cleaned the wiper blade edge religiously on other vehicles when washing the car, but on Mo, it isn't easy because of the hood being above the wiper arm. You have to kick the wiper up and shut off the ignition to do it right, and I don't do that in the middle of a wash. Perhaps had I done that I wouldn't have the results I do.

And see if it helps.

Well you could try to put the arm in the straight up position and every so slightly bend the arm to the windshield and see if that extra bend is enough added pressure on the wiper blade.

My passenger wiper was absolutely useless in snow. Took it to a dealer and he cleaned it...woopee....and it still worked like crap. Didn't get my dealer to replace within 1 year warranty so bought a set of Silblade reflex wipers. Installed them last week and so far they work great. My wife can see now!!

They are a little more $$ but come with a 5 year warranty!!

Silblades are available on-line only I think. I bought mine from Silblade directly http://www.silblade.com/ and they will ship to Canada. They mail them and put a value of $15 on the package so you don't have to pay anything extra. It did take 3 weeks though.

How are they holding up so far?

What is the installation process? Can a novice replace the blades easily?

If these are guaranteed for 5 years, I'd make sure that any service tech knows not to replace the blades without specific instructions to do so, be it at a dealer or any other service facility.

Really easy to replace......turn on wipers and stop when they reach the top, turn of vehicle to stop them. There is a little clip under the existing ones.....push it down and remove the old ones. The Silblades have a little door on top to make it easy to slide the arm in.....pull back to lock in place ...done. The default blade fits without any adapters......really only took about 30 seconds to do both.

Many years ago I had an MG-Midget that had three small (12"?) wiper blades that barely touched the glass. Even the replacement arms offered little improvement. Fortunately I found the solution in a J.C. Whitney catalog. It was a "helper" spring that attached to the base of the wiper arm and applied extra force to the arm itself. The spring looked like an oversized version of a clothes-pin spring. I remember it was a bear to install but it worked wonders.
