Youtube: FX35 vs Ford Expedition - Click HERE for Original Thread
Eric L.
A bunch of idiots beat up an FX35 and a Ford Exploder. Its painful to watch (esp the bent axle), except I'm impressed by how the Infiniti kept on going, despite being a softroader. Sit down for this one - you'll want to reach into your screen and strangle the people in the video.

Eric-

Nice find. That's a wild video.

To all,

Here's the story line. Some guy supposedly wins a bunch of money playing craps in Vegas, goes out and buys a new Ford Explorer and FX35, takes them into the desert, and proceeds to trash them. (If this occurred anywhere other than Vegas I would have assumed the cars were stolen.)

If anyone you know in the Las Vegas area is considering buying a used, low-mileage silver FX35, I strongly suggest you tell them to walk away very quickly.

I can't believe the elemental feelings I felt watching that!

I wanted that car to roll while they were abusing it.
None had belts on. Not one single person has a seat belt on in either vehicle.
I was hoping that they would survive but maybe break some bones etc. I really , really wanted that to happen. I guess my anger was very deep at these morons with no sense at all. They didn't care for themselves or anybody else.

Is it any wonder some people have a bias against the young? Hard to see what separates them from the animals. I don't think they could even use being high as an excuse. I think they just have no sense whatsoever.

They tell me that an IQ of about 100 is normal.
It is very unlikely that the cumulative IQ of that group could be 100.
I have never seen such complete idiots.
Their parents must be real winners.

Geeze that was hard to watch.

Homer

Storeyine. schmoreyline. The cars were stolen IMO,
enamurao
most be stolen cars or millionaires dudes who don't give a crap about damaging those cars.
its painful to watch that its like animal cruelty,(auto cruelty).
Eric L.
At the beginning of the video, one guy said "so I won at craps last night and......" - so the story that joe related is likely true. Doesn't give them an excuse to wreck two cars though. Probably not good for the environment either, to go romping around the desert like that. (Ok I guess you can argue that there isn't much going on in the desert...but leaving plastic and metal parts strewn in the wilderness isn't particularly responsible either).

Also homer's comment about today's youth - I hope it was in reference to the idiots in the video and not to youth in general. We have a few young members on this forum too, who I take to be bright enough to not engage in such irresponsible behavior as shown in the video.

Looks like alot of fun, but I feel bad for the FX!!
Eric L.
The story gets worse - its not some random Youtube video - its off some DVD.

No idea who these "teckademics" are, but apparently this kind of entertainment sells. Sad sad sad...

The only way you can justify driving a car like that in the Vegas desert is if the car is a... rental. :2:

Someone here on this forum posted a slogan once along the lines of... "nothing makes a good offroad vehicle like rental papers in the glovebox". My compliments to the author.

Were those guys and gals in the video idiots or just being irresponsible? It's a matter of opinion. (Personally, I think they are both.) It's the foolishness of youth. Most (all?) of us have done things in our youth that we would never consider doing now. It comes with maturity. Years from now when the driver of the FX gets married, has a mortgage, 2.3 kids and a puppy dog he may wish he had spent his Vegas winning more wisely.

zman-

I am showing my age. That was part of a "saying" a few years back referring to the number of kids in the average household at the time. Now I guess someone would look at it and say it is "version 2.3". :D

Or are you just pulling my leg, z-man?

I just thought it was funny....and I was not sure if you meant two grown kids and 1/3 or what......

And I bet I am older than you are since I was in college when Nixon was president....................:D

How is it than the airbag didn't deploy in the FX35? I kind-of wish it had and broken an arm on the driver. I mean, we've all done stupid things in our youth, but c'mon... a brand new FX35 and a Ford Explorer? Isn't there a better way to spend your money? What was that old axiom? "A fool and his money are soon parted..." I hope trashing a FX35 was worth $45K...

Something I don't understand.

We watch several minutes of a bunch of people with no scruples, no self control, no sense of their fellow man and when they say they won the money, we all nod our heads and say that in this instance, the leader is a man of principle.
He wouldn't lie.
After all we hear him with our own ears, say that he won the money.
He wouldn't tell a fib.
Not a young man of such demonstrable worth and principle.

IMO they stole the cars.

Good question IMO about the Air bag. I guess that they never quite got to that degree of impact. Just a bunch, a whole bunch, of smaller impacts I guess.
Still doesn't seem reasonable tho that you can warp a car that badly without the bag.......

I think joe may be on to something.
the 2.3 kids thing......... if you had a kid and he had no brain, no sense of right and wrong, no feelings for other people......maybe you would have .3 of a kid.;)

Just watched the video.......I cannot find words to describe actions of this bunch of idiots........they are not worth of our time. Let's hope next time they do something similar they brake not anly cars....:(

You know what would be poetic justice? Finding out who their insurance provider is and sending them the video.:4:

Halo
I wonder if the airbag doesn't deploy b/c the seatbelt isn't on?

To be devil's advocate here for a second, and perhaps not referring to this incident specifically: As long as someone is endangering only themselves and their idiot friends who are there voluntarily, why the emotional outcry for the car? I mean, it's a car right, not an irreplacable work of art? A bunch of steel, aluminum and plastic. Even if it's a 360 Modena, it is still just a bucket of bolts. (Now a 250GT California, I might take issue with).

Just for laughs, next time you're in Vegas, take a look at how many of the rental SUVs parked around (you can tell they're rentals because they have a barcode sticker somewhere on the front or rear window) are covered in fairly thick dust. Now, sure, maybe a few folks do make it to Red Rocks to do a few routes between hitting the strip club and the casinos, but I'm sure some of those Monteros and and Jeeps get a nice workout before they get returned. [Not speaking from personal experience or anything ;) ]
Eric L.
I think for the car obsessed members here, cars are much more than buckets of bolts, even if thats what they really are. Its like saying that a person is a bag of water. Technically correct, but you'd probably have a different opinion about the people you care about. (Ok there might be some people I know who are bags of something else...:D ).

Watching the video of the people destroying the FX35 is painful in the sense that they are ruining a perfectly good car. Its like watching people throw away perfectly good food or use hundred dollar bills as toilet paper. Sure, its *their* money they can do whatever they want with it - but to the casual observer its wasteful and the arrogant way they go about doing it obviously doesn't help.
sxmdaniel
NOOOOOO To painful for me :cursin:

The guy driving the FX lives around this area. He's loaded and his family owns a few BMW dealerships. He has a yellow M3 that you can see in alot of the Gumball Race videos. Rich as can be and waste a ton of money on stupid ****. Theres a video of them doing that stuff on a nice new X5 as well.

Check out this site: http://www.teckademics.com/

They do alot more crazy stuff on there.
ekaxel
I am not going to bother to watch it.
Agree 100% with Homer.....
