| The CX7 is a MO rip off, don't you think? How they compare? |

| I like the looks of the CX.... I would consider it if I wanted a smaller car.... I'm a fan of the flared fenders on many of the new Mazda models. |

I actually think this class/style sprouted after the success of the Lexus RX. So they can all, including the MO, call the RX their Daddy. |

You likely won't get 100% agreement on this, but for the record I have mentioned this in the past.
The Lexus RX3xx is STILL a very nice car.
I really like the CX7 but consider it not a direct competitor.
It is for example, cheaper and smaller.
I will look at it when the time comes. As much as I like the space in the Murano, I rarely, if ever, use it all.

My initial decision while researching which vehicle to buy next on the internet was the CX7. I went to look at the CX7 in person and could tell straight away that it was built with very cheap materials. I didn't even request to have one opened up. Looking through the window, I could tell the plastics were cheap, and the leather or cloth was just obviously low quality.
The exterior metal paneling was also very flimsy, which is just unacceptable in my opinion. This is how they are able to sell it at the price they do, but I think in an attempt to reduce costs by marginalizing the materials, they've done a disservice to the vehicle.
Mazda does have a great marketing department, and has successfully attached a great psychological premium on their vehicles, as being sporty and fun to drive, but this doesn't compensate for the low quality of the CX7's build in my opinion. They look great on the internet, but it's a whole different story when you actually see one in person. The MO's build quality, both interior and exterior, far exceeds the 2007 CX7. |

I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the CX7 as soon as I saw the concept version, but I can't help but feel that it lost a good bit of it's appeal when it became a reality. I love the nitch-market that Mazda vehicles fill and really wish that the CX-7 would have lived up to my expectations.
IMHO, it's no Murano. |
