Has anyone ordered the updated 6.5 DVD from Zenrin (for the 03-05 MO)?

I haven't upgraded since my original and I'm considering spending the $200 on the update. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the update or not.

Thanks,
-Alan

Yes I purchased 6.5 a few months back.

When you purchase it you get 2 DVDs along with a set of instructions. The upgrade starts with putting in the first DVD, which basically updates the software on on-board computer. I don't remember exactly but I think it took about 10-15 mins to do this. Important thing is NOT to pull the first DVD out until it tells you to put in the second DVD. It will tell you to after it is done updating the software.

The upgrade was fairly painless. I just sat there watching the screen and followed the on-screen prompts.

As far as features are concerned, I have just been able to find two minor changes to the software itself. However, the road coverage has certainly increased. I live in suburbs of Indianapolis and there were a lot areas around here that were not covered in 6.1. A lot of these (still not all) are now covered.

Are you getting a discount from Zenrin? I remember I got the upgrade for $162 including shipping.

I haven't heard of any opportunity for a discount. Is there an online coupon or code? The current price is around $190 before tax + S&H.

I just ordered 6.5 and the shipping was free. Paid $190 even...It's scheduled to be delivered to my house on Friday.

Nope...I bought my Murano last year in September, and in November Zenrin said I couldn't get a free upgrade.

FYI...If you want to make a backup of the DVD for your own peace of mind, the DVD can be copied to a blank Verbatim DVD+R DL disc using a Dual Layer DVD burner with the right burner firmware settings...The backup DVD's play fine and you can store away the original for safe keeping...

I think they had a special promotion going on when I had purchased it. That's why I got $50 off.

I just purchased version 6.5 for $190.00 plus $16.00 shipping to Canada. Nissan Canada offers 1 free update during the standard warranty period and I used that up last November (v 6.4). FYI - did you know you can also get hotel discounts at Choice Hotels during the standard warranry period??? There is a code in the warranty book you prvide when making reservations.

Just upgraded from 6.3 to 6.5......what a difference. Living in Winnipeg, Canada, we might as well have been on the North Pole according to 6.3. But now, 6.5 has us back in civilization. Definitely worth it. Very simple to load. Program disk took less than 5 min. As previously stated, in Canada, we're allowed 1 free upgrade, probably because, if I wouldn't have upgraded, I probably would not have purchased another Nav. system since it was useless to us unless we drove to Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver.

I could't agree with you more...:4:

If you have two Nissan's with NAV, can you use a copy in car #2?

Are there any other sites besides http://www.zenrin.com/nissan/DVD to order these NAV DVD's from? I'm ready for the latest version.

Yes, it is possible to do so, although I understand it to be illegal. Also, some have had issues with the copy depending on the brand of media and media type (DVD+R/+RW/-R/-RW)

I backed up my 6.4 disk to a DVD+R/DL, and i'm using the copy now. I think it generally takes a few seconds longer to load.. Wanted to see if the reader played +R/DL's..

I paid the 190$ to go from 6.2 - 6.4.. I think it's highway robbery, considering you can pick up a garmin for a little over 200$ and have current maps.. And for me up in Connecticut, 6.2 - 6.4 wasn't anything special, I was hoping they updated the software/interface.. I was wrong! For me, same roads, not even updated for major road changes where i am..

I won't be spending 200 on 6.5, unless someone copies their 6.5 disk and puts their original up on Ebay :)
