Bought my Mu here.
Its the biggest Nissan dealer in the US and probably the world.
I used their internet sales dept and we agreed on a deal. Set the price on an exact vehichle (VIN) that I wanted. I agreed to buy it sight unseen. It was a weekday and a long drive so i wanted everything ready when I arrived so we went over everything.
Around 5 the saleswoman called me and asked ARE YOU SURE YOU"RE COMING AT 7PM?? I said ofcourse. She even said that THE CAR HAS BEN MOVED FROM STORGAE AND DETAILED AND NOW SITTING HERE IN SHOWROOM WAITING FOR YOU SO DON"T BE LATE.
I got there 6:45. The saleswoman was not there. I asked and was told she leaves at 6 everyday. And she's gone.
No one knew of my deal. So I showed the manager my email with all the details of price/Vin/Pickup time etc. Mianager assigned me a new salesman. He took off on an errand while I waited for 30 minutes. I got pissed and spoke to manager again. Gpt me different sales guy.
Turns out, my car is is still in storage in a far away location. 10PM, the salesguy and me go driving on the freeway looking for the storage lot. After searching through 100;s of cars we find mine. Its wrapped in plastic and totaly dirty.....(THEY TOLD ME IT WAS CLEAN AND SITTING IN SHOWROOM!)
It took another 2 hours for them to clean the car and process the paper work.
FINALLY, the car wasn;t cleaned well at all. Pieces of sticker and glue everywhere.
AND they lost my spare key AND the metal plate containing the encoder for the keyless remote.
4 emails and multiple calls later, they have not responsded to my request for my valet key and the chip.
WORST NEW CAR PURCHASE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!
...the dealerships are sapping all the joy of owning a new car...it makes my stomach turn.....I rarely ever buy new cars and I was looking forward to my delivery and even dreamed of it....the way they bothced the most important day for my Mu and I has seriuosly tarnished my whole experience with this car....
Don't go there either.... |

I've never had a good experience there. My brother has completely sworn-off Nissan products because of their shoddy service department as well. They collected $2000 to fix the AC on my brother's 1995 Maxima and when it was finished, it was STILL blowing hot air. They claimed there was nothing wrong and they were *ALL* like that. My brother took his Maxima to an independent mechanic who told my brother that almost nothing was changed on the AC system. After $350 with the independent mechanic, the AC worked great. After that, my brother REALLY encouraged me to stay away from Nissan.
My brother's friend bought a Nissan from the Nissan dealer in Glendale. That dealership is owned by the same owner as Universal Nissan. They had to go to court to get the deal unwound because the used car they bought had been a previous rental and wrecked, but the sales team neglected to tell my brother's friend that even after asking if the car had been involved in any collisions.
Having said that, I can say that probably the BEST Nissan service I ever receved was from Douglas Nissan in Huntington Beach. Stephen (service manager) is great. Don't know about their sales side, but I'll bet it's a lot better than Universal Nissans. Due to Douglas Nissan's service department, I have zero regrets owning a Nissan.

While not typical, your experience is not uncommon. The Nissan sales and support teams are very poor, not just in L.A. or California, but in all of North America. It truly is a rare find to locate a Nissan dealership that is consistently fair, honest, and trust-worthy.
If I were you I would have loved to have gone to the dealership the next day and stood over the saleswoman who initially set-up the deal and asked why she lied to me. I would make her explain to me in front of the Sales Manager why she blatantly lied several times and what she was going to do to make it right.
Having a new car is nice feeling, but buying one from a Nissan dealer certainly is not.
