If you have a Comcast DVR setup, here's a great remote "hack".
This setup will allow an instant "30 second skip" when playing back a recorded program.
It works Fantastic for commercial skipping.
1. Choose an unused or unneeded button on the “silver” remote to be the 30-second skip command. I used my PIP button on the bottom left of the remote, it's otherwise useless and easy to find by feel.
2. Press the “Cable” button at the top of the remote to put it into Cable Box control mode.
3. Press and hold the “Setup” button until the “Cable” button blinks twice.
4. Type in the code 994. The “Cable” button will blink twice.
5. Press (do not hold) the “Setup” button.
6. Type in the code 00173.
7. Press whatever button you want to map the 30-second skip command to.
8. Go play something you have recorded, push your assigned button..... ENJOY! |

| Not really a "hack"..just normal UEIC based remote advanced code programming. There are many other functions that can be added the same way. The remote can also be completely reprogrammed to do almost anything you might want using more adcanced techniques. |
