I visited the Nissan website after quite some time and noticed the new 2008 Altima coupe.
First thing that came to mind was the Infiniti G coupe but a more affordable version. They look almost exactly the same.
It would've been better if they gave it similar tail lights as the G because it looks like they just re-fitted the old ones which were ugly IMO. (referring to the new 07 Altima)
Made me wonder what new redesign they have coming out for the G coupe. |

NELSON,
problem is the Altima is FWD. And if you want to really drive it you need RWD........like G.... |

| And if you want something more than transportation, you can get the G with a manual transmission. |

I'm pretty sure that Altima coupe will come in manual.
I know it's totally a different class... competing with a civic SI, GTI, etc. - since the SE-R isn't that popular with the young/racer community.
I was just surprised at how much it has the G's styling.
Maybe just like the MO is being redesigned and the Rogue is inheriting the MO's look - the Altima coupe is inheriting the G's design while it gets a new one. |

Agreed, owning the Altima now with that powerful engine, well, it gets a little squirrely when you nail the gas pedal. I'd much prefer the rear wheel drive. I must say that Altima 2 door is very hot, it has great lines and I'd give it a test drive before I dropped the cash in the G. I posted a picture someplace on another thread about a month ago.

I wouldn't put the Altima coupe into the same category as the Civic Si or GTI, both of which have better handling due to their smaller size. Its competition is more like the Accord and G6 coupe, where the Altima will likely be the class leader.
I'm pretty sure Nissan is *hoping* most customers think "oh it looks like the G" and buy one, not knowing that the FWD D-platform is not even related to the G's enhanced FM platform. Its like how some people think the Murano and FX are related. However in reality, its hard to exceed even the handling limits of FWD on normal street driving - you have to really push the car hard (to the point of being dangerous) before terminal FWD understeer pops up when gunning it through a corner. |
