So I'm looking into springs for the Mo. Of course the first stop is ebay and I see they have three different manufacturers of spring kits, Eibach, H&R Sport and Intrax.
I have seen some of you post up about the H&R's but has anyone used the Intrax. They claim the biggest drop but also use progressive rate windings. Just curious for ride quality info as it the wife's DD |

i looked into Intrax 1.8 lowering kit and eibach many sites have them listed but when u call up they are discontinued ,.
I ended up with the H&R they are still produced love the look , did however stiffen up the ride some bit , especially on these pot hole riddled streets down here .
good luck |

| I've had enough of the stiff ride , can't deal with it anymore with the roads down here , i think i will be returning to the original springs and height and removing the H&R's , unless anyone thinks i can cut the original coil springs and still maintain some smoothness in the ride and keep that low profile look , any opinions out there ??? |

No you can't cut the springs and maintain a good ride.
Murano Springs are progressive springs.
The tops and bottoms compress easier than the middle.
So if you cut off the top or bottom, you will have what you have now.
Now if you could take an inch or two out of the middle........:2:

Thanks homer , i guess i won't be cutting the original , how about compressing them in the middle with clamps , i know clamps are not a favorite however i would be accomplishing what you stated by keeping the top progressive .

Better solution, permanent though is.............to weld them |

Thanks Kris , that's a solution too , would the welding of the springs with the heat and all not be risky in the way of affecting the strength of the steel , what kind of welding would you reccomend ?? do you guys know of any site where i could order four original coil springs so in case i mess anything up i can still have a good set of springs on hand .
Thank you |

Well.....that would sorta work.
The way normal progressive springs work is they compress top/bot on small bumps and the middles don't move.
On mid sized bumps the top/bot would fully compress, but the center coils would compress some, helping the ride to feel OK.
On major bumps the top/bot fully compress and the middle starts to compress and then, based on load and speed, it gets tougher and tough to compress....and finally stops compressing HOPEFULLY before the suspension bottoms out on the bump stops.
If you clamp the middle (Which would NOT be easy, but "could" be done) the small bumps will be great. Just like the OEMS.
The Mid sized bumps however, the TOP/Bot will fully compress, and then the suspension will feel like it has bottomed out.
And of course on the Large bumps it will be even worse as in both scenarios, the Middle coils will not be helping.
So, if the problem is that minor bumps are bothering you, then clamping could help but on Medium and major bumps, it will be bad. Very bad.

Have you considered having custom springs fabricated for your MO? It may be possible to have custom springs fabricated that are a compromise between the OEM springs and the H&Rs. It might be worth looking in to.

| you think you have a bad ride now? i cut my H&R springs to make it lower and wowwwww is my ride bad i bounce on the smallest crack and on occasion on the freeway i get tossed out my seat and the people in the back hit there head on the ceiling lol |

I hope it is feasible. If so, you might want to post the price in case others want to follow suit.
Good luck.

| I suspect that it will be expensive , but in my opinion if the ride quality remains equal to the original and allows me to maintain the look , i'll probably go for it , i'll keep you guys posted . |
