Hi, new to the board and hoping to become a regular poster. I know this is constantly being asked but:
I am on the verge of purchasing a 2004 SL AWD (52k miles) with the touring package, nav, leather, heated seats, 7 yr/100k extended warranty, xenon, and cd changer for $21k.
First off is that a decent price?
Secondly, is there anything I should be looking out for or aware of before going through with this purchase?
thanks for any input. |

Ok, the 04 murano didnt work out. Snoozed and lost out on the deal.
Now I am looking at a '03 SL 2WD fully loaded including nav. for 19k. and 38,000 miles. Reading through these forums I know that the 03's had a couple of issues. Should I hesitate in purchasing a 2003 model? Again, what should I "be aware of" when inspecting the vehicle? |

The rule of thumb for used cars is get the newest you can afford (in good condition, of course).
I just bought an 05 SE AWD with Nav last week. All is well although I had some issues with the driver's side seat that the dealer and I worked out. The worm gear stripped and it was over $700 to fix.
Consumer Reports suggest that the '05 and up have been good choices although I saw a lot of really nice '04s when I was shopping. My research showed there are some newer models with higher mileage coming off lease just now so you may be able to do better. |

Mind if I ask how much you paid for your '05?
The problem is not so much that I cant afford (except new) but that I cant find a Murano with navigation around these parts. I checked 4 different states around california for crying out loud. Not sure where else to check except for craigslist, vehix, autotrader, local newspapers, and my last resort ebay. |

My, you are up early (or late) for a west coaster. ;)
I think I got a pretty good deal at CDN$30,000 even (about US$25,300) - for Canada. It was a local car (we require Daytime running lights etc,) but I Carfaxed it just in case (clean), 60,000 km - 37,000 miles (so it is off bumper to bumper but has the remaining 3 years and 40,000 km (23,000 miles) of powertrain. We have a number of cars in the family so we don't tend to do big mileage so the remaining powetrain will likely be about right.
I also spent quite a while looking for a Murano - considered all years really - and debating if I should get Nav. I feel that, considering all the other stuff an SE comes with here, it was basically a free option. Unlike the US, there are few options on Muranos. The SL here comes nicely equiped with cloth seats only and no stability or trac control. It can be AWD or FWD. The SE comes with absolutely everything - Nav, leather, Bose, both power seats, Stability/trac. etc. - and Nav is the ONLY option . The S model is not available at all. The one I bought was bought new in May 05 and was about CDN $52,000 so the previous owner took a big hit. He traded in on a MDX and the Acura dealer said they bought out his lease. I hammered them because it was an off brand on a nasty cold dead Saturday near the end of the month and they really needed to make quotas or someone was out the door.
Strangely, I found there to be many imported US Muranos for sale here because they seem to be quite a bit cheaper in the resale market. Most of them are coming out of New York State and New Jersey so you may want to look further afield.
Have you checked out Edmonds.com? |

Being up early? Oh, just checking on listed Muranos before someone else did...lol...I'm kidding....I think....
Congrats on your purchase. I shall keep on plodding for one but may be willing to take a chance on this 2003 if I can pull the price south of $19k. I will also be buying the bumper to bumper warranty from Warranty direct for 4 yrs and 100k miles for $2k. |

| I purchased an '03 Murano Copper Sunlit Metallic back in Sept. and couldn't be happier. I paid $18k with 20,000 miles. I got a really good deal b/c here in Columbus Ga they do not sell very well. I love my car..SUV. I know a few people do not like the CVT......I love it. It is vey smooth and gets pretty darn good gas milage. |
