I have on 06, Premium Package with Bose Radio and I do not have the intelligent key. I am looking to add a remote starter.
I have read most of the remote starter threads, but most of them have to do with the intelligent key. Does anyone know if it is possible to use a remote start with the standard keyless entry system without adding yet another fob on my keychain?
Any specific recommendations would be great.
Thanks! |

If you get an alarm with the remote start feature, the new alarm's key fob will be all you need.
But I don't know if you wanted an aftermarket alarm. Definitely get more range with it though.
If GymKid could get his intelligent key fob to trigger his remote start, your's should be no problem.
Circuit City, Best Buy, local audio shop, etc. will have no issues installing it into your car. |

I really don't want to replace the factory keyfob as I programmed both my Murano and my wifes Maxima to use the same fob. Anything I do to mine will mean we will both have to put a second fob back on the keychains. As silly as it sounds, I really like only having one fob. I hate carrying a bulky keychain ;)
I take it that an aftermarket alarm with a remote starter would replace the factory keyless entry?
If that is the case, does anyone have recommendations on alarm models or brands to go with or stay away from? (Totally new to this area). Any vehicle electronics forums that are newbie friendly or good sources of information?
Thanks! |

Can it be done? Sure, why not....but then again, why? I know you want a single fob for both cars, but really the factory keyless entry system has CRAPPY range. A better solution would be to use a remote starter in EACH of your vehicles and have dual channel autostart fobs to allow for a common use on both vehicles. |
