buying a new car over the weekend, yes MO gonna go,love the car but I have different
transportation needs now.
I went test drove the tacoma dbl cab, love it! but I like frontier also, mpg frontier is 16/21 and tacoma 19/22.
gonna test drive the frontier by this weekend,I like options of racks and sunroof in frontier which tacoma don't offer.
Which you all think is the best one to go with?
both are about same price.

I hate to say it, but I think the Toyota will be a better truck - more reliable and a bit more refined. The Frontier likely has better handling though. You really can't go wrong with either though.

well the tacoma seems to be the larger truck of the 2. it has the longest bed in it's class coupled with the quad cab. the frontier should be up for a mid life refresh soon and will most likely look like the refreshed pathfinder. another thing is were you happy with the service nissan gave you? quite a number of things to consider. i like the rumbe of the new 4.0 VQ engine in the frontier but styling wise, i like the tacoma much more.

actually never had much service done to the MO only once for the fuel tank recall and some exhaust shield that was loose but that was it,
all I know they are not really friendly like they way they act when they are trying to sell you a car all smiling and good morning here good afternoon there but they did the job, so thats one of my concerns on buying another nissan.
I did the test drive on tacoma and was really nice I might end with the toyota because they are offering lifetime unlimted mileage power train warranty ,not sure if this is everywhere or just this dealer but thats a good plus.

4 of my closest friends have 06-07 Tacomas and love them. They are comfortable and roomy for a truck. And, unlike the MO there is no shortage of cupholders throughout.

As an owner of an '05 Frontier SE, I may be a bit biased, but I love the truck. When I was deciding between the Fronty and the Taco, I preferred the way the Frontier drove over the Tacoma. That VQ40 engine is pretty sweet too. Haven't had an issue at all through 37K miles and I've driven the truck pretty hard. Tows like a champ and can scoot. I plan on getting another one when the lease is up on my current Frontier.

I own a 05 Taco prerunner as well and I'll just say I'm glad the wife drives it. Don't know about the Frontier now, since it was test drove before the Taco was bought but the Titan is a much better truck or the Tundra. The Tacos cruse control is horrible and the auto trans is to rough. It is a good truck though, sits high, decent gas milage, I go with something else though.

whats with the CC that makes it so horrible?

Before I bought my MO I was a lurker on this forum. I learned a ton of information here that helped me with my decision. The alternator recall was a hot topic then - I knew about it even before my salesman did.

Check out the Frontier and Tacoma forums and read about each truck's strengths and weaknesses. There are no better reviewers than the drivers/owners themselves.

Good luck.

I know,Im already checking on those forums but sometimes is nice to ask opinion from people who dont own the car to see what they think, some people dont like to talk bad about they're own vehicles even if they know are junky, but what do you think NJ about those two? the taco or the fronti?
went to two toyota dealer to look around, so far not a good pleasent experience the way this kids sales mens in they're lower 20's are pushing in people,
managers really young and pushi too, went to nissan a total different experience really professionals and adults maybe the service dept sucks but sales dept. really friendly here at my local dealer,I might stick with the frontier more hp more torque and more luxury for the same money as plain tacoma.

I am a MO owner, and also have a 99 Maxima. If I had a choice between a Tacoma or a Frontier, it would be very simple. I would get a Tacoma without any hesitation. First of all a Tacoma will be undoughtingly more reliable. Second, it surely looks better in my opinion. Third, Nissan has been really ticking me off with all their stupid recalls (alternator, belts, butt ugly fuel shields) plus I had to get a new transmission only 26k. Toyota's are bullet-proof, the rest of my family have a 4 Runner and an old SR5 pickup which has close to 200k on it without any problems. If my Murano was not so sexy as far as styling I would surely have gotten a Toyota, but I still love my MO! I think it is still more reliable than any American made car.

I wish I could help you but I know very little about either vehicle.

If someone handed me a blank check and told me I had to buy either a Frontier or a Tacoma this evening, I would opt for the Toyota solely because of the poor sales and service that Nissan is known for.

Good luck with your decision.

As you all know I am not a truck or SUV guy.....I am a car guy.
However, I have seen many Toyota pickup trucks that lasted 20 years on Australian farms! Talk about reliability and longevity...

Bought the taco!
and glad i did not bought the fronti or anything from nissan, why?
because I have the MO for trade in and went to nissan thinking That since my the MO is nissan I could have get more money for it in a nissan dealer.
I was wrong, they did a detailed inspection took pictures, test drive, and everything,
they only came up with $19,000 with only 35,000 miles,I
anyway b4 that I test drove the frontier,do not like it at all, not only has 3mpg city less than the tacoma, the back seat is small and the bed is too short on the short bed model, also sits too low compared to tacoma,It shouldn't even be in same category as the TACOMA,
test drove titan, now thats a truck! but mpg 13 or 14 city.
Anyway went to toyota, they gave me $21,500 for my MO with a quick walk around, that was it.
and bought a tacoma for $25,500,
with lifetime warranty on powertrain, not many options but the necessary, this babe rides fine love this tacoma.
thanks for all you guys inputs about which one to go for.
I will be moving on to a toyo forum now, still be passing by to read.
this forum is great, learn a lot about Muranos.

i like that the toyota has a composite box. no need for a spray in liner. you made i good choice enamurano.

Great Choice, congratulations on an awesome ride!!!! :29:
In fact, I'm thinking of getting rid of the MO and getting a FJ Cruiser myself! I want to do this before I have to get another tranny replaced again before my warranty is up.
Eric L.
Congrats on the Tacoma - great truck!
Kris
Congratulations and good luck !

I think if I was a truck guy I would have opted for Toyota as well....
