It was photoshopped!
The Murano is speed limited to 118mph or so, equal to the "T" speed rating on its Goodyear Eagle LS tires. |

Eric is right. Murano speed is electronically governed at 118mph.
The picture you saw most likely was the one on Infiniti M45....I think I posted it some time ago..... |

Thanks Eric and Kris.
I am little dis-appointed to know it is limited to 118. :( :(
I am pretty amature but never too late to learn interesting things. Now my investingation will start for how to override the lock.......and why did they choose 118.
Also, what is T speed rating and I assume even if have tires with better T speed rating we would need to override hardcoded data.

SR-
You plan on taking a lot of 118+ mph trips?
Tires are rated according to their speed capability and given a letter designation.
R - 106 mph
S - 112
T - 118
U - 124
H - 130
V - 149
Even if you put V-rated tires on your MO that does not necessarily mean it can safely run at speeds in excess of 118 mph.

Thanks njjoe,
you are correct and even to hit 118 i would need pretty flat and long straight road. :D
I have seen many long drive - cross country trip postings in here which really made me want to do one for my MO..
Donno which direction but i wanna go for a loooooong drive.....:roadtrip::roadtrip:
Any suggestions ....places to drive from Houston,TX. I guess I can't call it a cross country since i am almost half way from either side.....
Just keeping all options open...but surely do a long drive before the real summer kicks in.... |

| How about cross country in another way... North, or would that be considerd up counrty ;-) Niagra falls is nice, either the American side or the Canadian side. Good for sight seeing. Been once, will go again sometime for sure. |

It's not that hard to reach 118mph, if you keep it on the floor (I've done it about 20 times). I have the Toyo Proxes S/T tires, which are V rated.
In order to bypass or extend the speed limiter, you will have to have your ECU reprogrammed. No way around that, like in "the good old days" when you could just put a switch on the speed wire that went to the ECU. |

| I can accurate say that my MO hit 120MPH, as confirmed by GPS. |

You must have been in a hurry to get somewhere..or just experimenting..
That brings up a question that i have had..is there a certain "Break in" period for new MO's? I heard you should wait till 5,000 miles till you floor it or bring it up to the speed limiter, but i think 5,000 miles is a long time to wait. :8: |

| Nothing special about the MO... first 1200 miles drive as you normally would, avoid driving for long periods at constatnt speed, either fast or slow, do not run the engine over 4000 RPM, do not accelerate at full throttle, avoid hard braking and do not tow a trialor for the first 500 miles. |

Oops......not that I am unaware, Its sooooo hard to resist. :roadtrip: :roadtrip: :roadtrip: how bad it would be or would harm the MO if dont follow the above conditions...?
I had the MO for 18 days now...counting from Valentines day, I already have 1640 miles in it. Drove about 110+ couple of three times:1pat: :1pat: , not for too long though. and yes the engine RPM went above 4000 again a couple of three times....no hard braking and did not use any trailor and probabily wont use one anytime in future.
And thanks for suggestions for the Road Trip......Up Country / Chicago seems to be pretty good drive....will need to plan my other works around it pretty soon..... |

SagiRISK-
Driving a MO at top speed two or three times during it's break-in period is fine as long as your car meets one of the two following conditions - 1) it is a rental, or 2) it is a short-term lease.

I believe the break-in period suggested by Nissan is only 1,200 miles. Check your manual.

| Right 1200 see my post above. In the past I would change my oil after the break in. |

White Sands NM. Long Road going west. My old J2 Grand Prix I would cruse at 120 for an HOUR and that was back in 1964 no Freeways going West of the Pecos.
But to get to 118 you woun't need but around a mile. |
