I've spent the last couple hours reading through posts but I can't find the one I thought I read here last week. It was a post with pictures of a iPod/MP3 installation. It was a DIY type install where the poster jumpered some pins to trick the headunit into thinking it was on then adding a 3.5 headphone style female jack under the armrest..
I'm not usually this dumb... oh wait.. what was I saying... oh yeah.. I'm dumb... until a wrench is in my hands...

Did you check the stickys in the Audio and Electronics forum? I believe there may be something there.
Good Luck! |

I don't remember a post like that. Quite a few about the Ipod Adapter unit and the PAC units, but not like what you're saying. Of course, that doesn't mean it's not there, I just don't recall. And my memory doesn't seem to be as great as it used.... to... um.... what were we talking about?
Sure it wasn't a different forum? |

I'm just soaking up too much info at once. It may have been on a different forumn.... But I definatly remember someone showed how to jumper pins 1-9 or 3-9 or something like that to trick the headunit into thinking it have a device there to activate the aux input on the headunit. then they soldered in a couple of blue wires from a harness to a 3.5mm headphone jack and then mounted that in center console. They even commented about the thickness of the plastic in the corner and suggested that it might not be as thick along the edge...
Grrrrr.... I have not remembering stufff.....musta been all that drinkin while I was in the USMC.... hehe..
Thanks for the comments guys... If I do find the post, I'll jam the link here....

| I probably missed that post but I can tell you that the PAC unit I used to give myself an AUX input works great. Thats the way I would go - that way, you will not have to risk damaging the head unit. |
