I am ordering a set of Rain-X Latitude wipers from the Rain-X site. They look very impressive in the video and if you order 2 wipers, you get a free visibility pack. They have the wipers for all years of the Murano. I needed a 26" and a 19", and they have a 14" for the rear which I did not order. For 2007 they only have the front wipers, 24" and 19".
I'll report in on how they work. |

| Maybe I'll get one of these for my rear wiper - the oem Nissan one, which I've replaced three times already, is hopeless. For fronts I use Silblades, which are fantastic (after a year and a half, they work like new - I usually "ruin" normal wipers in less than six months!), but they don't make a silblade for the rear. |

Posted this the other day but can't find it:
To replace a rear blade, buy any longer NARROW refill, the kind with the plastic track backing, not the rubber one with the steel rails. Cut it to the right length, pull out the old blade rubber and steel strips, and slide the new one in. It will stay in by itself, and work fine... |

Once there, select products, wiper blades, latitude wiper blades, followed by find the right wiper blade for your vehicle. When you get this far, select Nissan and then Muarno and you have it made.
Good luck! |

I received my Rain-x latitude wipers about a week after I sent for them. The install was very simple and took about 10 minutes.
I knew as soon as I turned them on that they were good. I had some streaky dried salt from the last storm on my windshield that the OEM wipers wouldn't clear. Just a quick shot of wiper fluid and the windshield was clean. Make sure when you install new blades that you rest the bladeless arm on a rag or something soft so you don't damage the glass.
Only thing I noticed is that they seem to finish a bit higher on the glass when the wipers are turned off and go to their final resting place. I also see about a 1/4 pie shaped area where the wipers converge that doesn't seem to get hit by the blades. Been so long since I had a clean windshield that maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill.
Final analysis, they work and clean 100% better than the originals which I am keeping in storage for when I trade the vehicle in when my lease is up. |

| Driver's or left side is a 26". |

did you get the new wipers?
I need new ones for the FX and Murano and was looking the Rain-x Latitude but I need a positive feedback before I buy.
Are you happy with them? |

They are fantastic. They mold themselves to the shape of the windshield and took about 10 minutes to install. I treated my windshield with Rain-X and yesterday during a downpour, I hardly had to use my wipers at all except when passing freighters on the turnpike.
When I first put the wipers on, my windshield was dirty and streaky from the last snow and salting. The OEM Nissan wipers wouldn't clean the streaks even after spraying with my washers. Once the Rain-X wipers were on, all it took was one pass.
I highly recommend them! |
|

| Kris |
| Thanks for the feedback. I guess is time for me to follow your route....;) |
|
|
| elliotgb |
Sure!
Now I just need to make sure the sevice techs at the dealership don't accidentally uninstall the Rain-x's and replace them with OEM's.
I kept my OEM's since I am on a lease and I will swap them out when I turn the car in next year. |

Maybe there is an obvious answer to this question but..
I just ordered the 24" and 18" rain-x latitude wipers for my 2007 and noticed that the sizes are different from every previous model year...why is this if the windshield size didn't change? |

I'm wondering this same thing... anyone know what's going on? |

| I just threw mine in the garbage. Rain-X is making your wipers work, not the blades. Only lasted a couple months, really streaky really quick. |

I installed the Bosch Ions last month. So far, so good. Pricey, but really do the job. We will see how long they last.
I agree with papermaker. RainX will make a bad set of wipers appear to work well for a while.... |

| well its to late now because i already ordered them so i'll see how well they work in the long run |

Ok back to Silblades for me. Now those really work - had mine for a year and a half now, still excellent. |

Kris
Are you still going with the Rain-X latitudes?
I have had mine for about a month and so far I see no streaking.
I used them for a week before I applied the Rain-X treatment.
I suppose time will tell. There are a few negative comments about the wipers in this thread. |

Hey guys, just my two cents... Before you go spending uber-bucks on high-end wiper blades, give your windshield a coating or two of Rain-X windshield wax. It really works wonders, especially at highway speeds.
I normally replace wiper blades once a year. However, with the MO I am nearing two years with the original set. Thanx to the unique aerodynamics of the MO, the Rain-X allows the water to blow off the windshield without using wipers, better than cars I have owned in the past. It really makes a difference as I am sure others can attest to.
Give it a try, it's only a few bucks for a bottle.

I am not sure now. I was just about to order two sets when I saw first negative comments.
I think Joe has a point - I used Rain-X wax on my windshield only a few times and it still works great. The FX is 3.5 years old and still has original wipers! And they appear to be OK. I replaced mine 2 years ago and still not real problems. So I am not in a hurry. When I think about it I just might get replacement blades, I mean OEM ones. They worked OK for me so why change? |

I've switched from Rain-X to Aqua-Pel. On initial application, the Rain-X is better, but the Aqua-pel lasts MUCH longer consistently whereas the Rain-X quickly degrades.
I haven't tried the Rain-X "WAX" that njjoe mentioned.
Aqua-pel, combined with silblades, is a winning combination for me.
You can also look for a product from 303 that is like a "fresh-wipe" for the wipers. Once your wipers aren't working quite as well, you can wipe them down with these and it helps re-condition them. I wouldn't say it doubles the life of the wiper or anything, but they definitely help when your wipers start streaking or get stiff. I always keep a few on hand and use them to clean the wipers anytime I start seeing problems. |

Corin-
I didn't mean to mislead you. I called the Rain-X a "wax" just to differentiate it from the Rain-X wipers the guys were talking about. I am referring to the good 'ole liquid stuff in the yellow bottle.
Sorry for the confusion.

My memo to RainX:
Dear Sirs,
I purchased a set of Latitude wipers from your web site a few weeks back for my 2004 Nissan Murano. In combination with the RainX treatment, I have been completely satisfied thus far with the performance of the blades.
I belong to an on-line forum of Murano enthusiasts. Several of these members have reported dissatisfaction with the Latitude blades and have replaced them with other blades.
I'd like to share some of these comments with you and I am a bit apprehensive that my Latitude blades will perform satisfactorily after a duration of several months.
Here are the comments:
"just threw mine in the garbage. Rain-X is making your wipers work, not the blades. Only lasted a couple months, really streaky really quick"
"I am not sure now. I was just about to order two sets when I saw first negative comments"
Please understand that the members of this forum share information, ideas, technical information, etc. and that if the general consensus is that your product isn't worth the price or is under-performing, you could lose quite a few potential sales here. Show us that you back this product and fully endorse, guarantee and stand behind what you advertise and sell.
Sincerely,
XXXXXXXX |

Now, just hold on a minute here. There has only been ONE negative comment posted on this thread about these wipers. Then a couple people jumped on saying "oh, well, then I guess I won't get them."
Only one person that is unsatisfied (so far) does NOT warrant letters to the company complaining, in my opinion.
Why don't you hold off a bit and see how yours do after a couple more months? Let your rain-x coating wear off, then see how the performance is. If you're not pleased at that time, THEN write to Rain-X and see if you can get a refund (most companies like this have a satisfaction guarantee). |
|
|
| elliotgb |
| My intent was to see if I could get some satisfaction for Papermaker who threw his blades out. If RainX cares, they'll respond. I have nothing to gain yet by sending them an email, I am still satisfied. Sorrry this was taken the wrong way. |
|
|
| Corin |
| OK, gotcha. Yes, Papermaker should check out any guarantee they have and attempt to get his money back. |
|
|
| elliotgb |
| I also wanted to let RainX know that as an organization, this forum is a powerful tool that reaches quite a few consumers. We as a collective group have some power to influence buying decisions and to turn away potential buyers if we feel that there is poor product representation and/or quality. |

| I just installed my new Latitude wipers and installation was simple...there is only one problem though -- my passenger side wiper arm comes in contact with the edge of the hood when it is in the resting position. I know this is most likely due to the additional height of the wiper blade itself but I am just curious if any other MO owners have this problem with Rain-x Latitude wipers..? |

Yes, my passenger side wiper arm sits slightly above where the old blade used to rest. Not that much of an issue for me though. |

We just had a decent rain here in Nor Cal and I had just installed the new wipers with no RainX application. They worked great even without! They do sit a little higher but do not come in contact with hood.

Reviving an old thread here, but an update on my Silblades - after about 20 months, the drivers side is beginning to streak and chatter - contacted Silblade and they sending me a new set! Yes I did try Rain-X and cleaning with alcohol beforehand, no success.
I've got to say that these wipers have lasted way way longer than any other I've ever used, including the most expensive Bosch wipers (Microedge Excel?) which generally last only 6 months. I'm one of those clean windshield nuts who uses the washer on pretty much every drive.
So the verdict on Silblades - for me, they last three times as long. Seems worth it to me. |

Why are they sending you a new set? Are they guaranteed for life?

I bought the rain-x latitude wipers a couple months ago and have been putting them to alot of use.
My recommendation: Don't buy them.
First off, the sizes the recommended for the 07 murano were wrong, and now my wipers leave streaks around the edges of my windshield and the far end of my passenger wiper doesn't even touch the windshield.
Second of all, the passenger wiper arm itself comes in contact with the hood everytime it is in the off position.
For the price of the wipers, i would not recommend them. They definitely do not perform to the standards that they should |

| Got Bosch Microedge Excel for both FX and Murano approximately 2 months ago. So far I am very pleased with them. They are very quiet and leave no streaks. |
