Hopefully, someone can help me.

Will a dealer accept a trade that has a trade-in value that is almost equal to what the new car is worth? Maybe a thousand less than the new car, if that?

Thanks!

Yes, most definitley, in this case your trade is equivalent to money.
Kris
No problem, as the previous poster said, dealer will take it. It is a matter how much it will be apprised....for dealer it is another item to make money on...

Thanks guys!!

OTOH, what if my trade is more than the new car? by 2 grand or more?

N-

The dealer does not give a damn about the relative values of the two vehicles. His only concern is how much money he can make on both vehicles.

If you want to trade a showroom-condition '63 Vette for a new MO the dealer will be more than happy to do the deal and throw some cash your way.

Again, it's still treated as money, on the other hand, they are probably going to want to give you less as possible and probably going to "steal" the vehicle from you, as they would say amongst each other.

They sure loved me. Hardly any miles on the first Mo.

if the trade is worth less than the new you would just pay the difference and tax on that difference. If the trade is worth more they write you a check for the difference.

In the state of Georgia, you still pay tax on the full sale price of the vehicle if you purchase from a dealership.

Might be enought to make me move. Must pay h*ll on the taxpayer.
