1st Tranny Replaced @ 10,000+ miles
Valve Body Replaced @ 79,000+ miles
2nd Tranny Replaced @ 79,000+ miles (still waiting for delivery)
Luckily I purchased the Protection + Warranty when I bought my Murano.
The Valve Body was replaced early March 07
A few days ago, I've noticed the RPM very unsteady... Losing RPM when the gas is depressed.
60MPH @ 1500RPM
Acceleration...
1500 to 2000 and back to 1500 RPM
Will this be my last vehicle with CVT?..... highly likely. They should offer a conventional tranny on the new body Murano.
For now, they said my Murano is "drivable" and they will call me when the transmission arrives.
I'll keep you posted.

| Hmmm sorry to hear that. Would you consider yourself hard on the tranny? Odd that it failed so early and then again at 79. |

No, I can't say I'm hard on the tranny. I have never raced it, never added any performance upgrades, etc.
As a matter of fact, with my wheels and suspension setup, I drive very careful. This is because I keep an eye out for pot holes and bumps. One thing I don't want to do is damage my wheels. |

N2-
Are these the same symptoms you experienced prior to the dealer replacing the CVT's Valve Body?

Isn't this normal.... when you initially press on the accelerator pedal the RPMs could raise if you press hard enough. The CVT responds rather quickly/harsly with a heavy foot. |

In normal circumstances the RPM will spike up and decrease slowly keeping the ride smooth.
My tranny is giving me a harsh transition almost feeling like a conventional auto tranny.
I had noticed this a few days before I took it in for the valve body replacement.
Today, it's actually feeling worse (at various speeds and RPM ranges.) I'm not comfortable driving this. I'm kind of shock they gave it back to me saying it's drivable and we'll call you when the transmission arrives. I'm going to request a rental car when they open. |

3rd transmission in such a short time! You are very unlacky.
Just wonder how good of a job they did when they replaced the valvebody....it is likely that it did not solve your problem.
Keep us informed. |

Here's how I see it.... The tranny was operating fine for about 69,000 miles. It starts acting up and they replace the valve body. The CVT works fine for a very short while and then the same symptoms show up. That leads me to believe that something "upstream" of the valve body is causing the valve body to fail. Likely culprits would be a failing oil pump or dirty/contaminated fluid.
