How To Remove Audio - Single Cd Not Ejecting - Click HERE for Original Thread
MURANO-9JA
All,

Am a new member from Nigeria. I just bought a used 04- murano from Houston. The Cd would not eject so am forced to listen to the Mexican CD already inside. Kindly advise on how to either eject or how to remove the Audio system so that I can get the eject to work.

Regards,

MURANO-9JA-

To the best of my knowledge there is no way to remove a CD from the player without using the EJECT button. I have checked the older posts and it looks like no one has found an alternative method. You need to either learn to like the Mexican CD or swap out the radio. Sorry.

Maybe the better question is - How do I remove the CAr stereo - DIY?

I had that same problem. The cd kept playing over and over :
"Te amo mi Murano". I looked it up and found out it meant " I love my Murano". I think it was a spanish propaganda tool.

When you press the eject button, does it make 'clickety clack' sounds? Mine has the same problem. I removed it and disassembled it, but could find no visible means to fix it. I was able to pry the CD out. Online search revealed no fix. Dealer wants $900. Used units are hard to find, are still expensive, and may not work properly.

I ended up using a 1/2-DIN DVD/CD player and interfacing it to the factory radio via the PAC AAI-NIS interface device.

All,
I finally got the CD thing out with the help of some local Car stereo technician. He discovered that the problem was the extremely cheap plastic used in some of the components removing and accepting the CD. He took the CD system (after we unscrewed like 100 nuts) and is going to fabricate a small thing that will help. I will photograph and attach more detailed stuff once it works. I hope someone can send this stuff to NISSAN so that they can change that particular component from plastic to say metal or something more durable for that highly mechanical task of removing and accepting CDs.

While I try to fix mine I will be interested in your arrangement mentioned above. Please educate more!

Of course, and I would also like to hear about how your CD player repair turns out (and, if possible, purchase the components needed for my player!!).

I purchased this DVD/CD player:
http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/prod...?productid=8870

and this Auxiliary Audio adapter:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PAC-...6QQcmdZViewItem

I mounted the audio adapter in front of the factory CD player, behind the kick panel next to the gas pedal (as described in other threads here).

I mounted the DVD/CD player to the center console:

and hid the wires to the audio adapter under the plastic trim on the side of the console:

this is not an elegant installation like you can find in other threads here. But, it took less than an hour and my wife is very happy with the results. And, all I need is an LCD screen and I will have a DVD entertainment system.

The blue wire in the top photo goes to the second input on the PAC audio adapter. It plugs into my wife's MP3 player.

In order to shut off the DVD player when playing radio or MP3, I used the switched output wire which comes from the PAC audio adapter, routed though a radio shack 12v relay. If you really plan to do this, I will share these details.

In the mean time, please keep us posted on the results of your CD player repair attempt.

Turbodog,
Apologies for the late reply.

IT WORKED! The only problem was in all excitement of trying it out, I forgot to take pictures before we coupled it all back.

What happened was that- there is this transparent plastic cover for the white gear like plastic that controls the springs that controls the whole eject and Cd accept mechanism. If you unscrew all the buttons, you will notice this system under the lone CD playing unit towards the bottom right of the system with its side up. When you turn it around, the component will be to the top of your left.

That main transparent plastic cover is connected to the main system with a small screw. The bolt is attached by an extenstion from this tranparent plastic. So what happened was the bolt has been detached fom the plastic because the small extension is broken. therefore the plastic does not provide the needed cover for firmness required by the gear operating the eject system leading to the Clickety-clickety sound .

What the technician did was to construct a metal and plastic attachment using powerful glues and then screw them all back. With that the transparent plastic provided the needed firmness and my Murano CDplayer is now turning out big bad SOUND VIBEs.

I hope this is useful, if someone can provide a picture of the underside of the CD unit, I will point to the components am describing.

At the end of the day, I paid about $100 for the work including fault detection, constructing the mechanical parts and removal and re-installing the system. No system parts were purchased. Nissan will benefit from changing that particular piece from cheap transparent plastic to something more durable and tougher.

My hat is off to your tech friend. I wish I had been able to isolate the problem when I had the unit apart. I strongly prefer to fix what is there rather than replace it.

It may be some time before I decide to perform surgery on it again. Maybe in the meantime someone will be able to post a photo as you suggest. Congratulations, and enjoy!

I've posted a comment, earlier, about my replacement of a failed CVT. Well, the auto dealer did replaced the transmission, last week, but the noise still didn't go away. It looks like something else is the problem, not the transmission. So, my previous post can be deleted. I'm still having the dealer looking into the problem. It's a headache, trying to find out what it is.
