The upcoming small crossover from Infiniti. Not sure why they would want one smaller than the FX, but I guess this means the FX will grow in size when its redesigned.

Looks like it will be a G35 crossover, so maybe it will have the 306hp VQ35HR.
No, the next gen Murano will not be the same car. Murano = Altima platform (currently FF, will be D). EX/FX = G35/M platform (FM). |

It looks like a refined version of the current FX. |

What's up with the subaru rear end? That's the best infiniti could come up with?
However, I do like the sounds of the all new Around View Monitor (AVM) system, which uses front, side and rear-mounted cameras to minimize blind spots during parking. |

There is no doubt; that is definitely an Infiniti. Very sporty looking.
There is no chance of a third-row seat in that thing, not with that severely sloping roof-line. I like the looks but that roof line will seriously limit the cargo capacity in the rear. You can't pile many suitcases in there with four people on board.
I am also not fond of the all-around camera. I have witnessed two accidents caused by people (women) backing-up into cars (and me) because they were only using the rear-view monitor and did not actually turn their head and look behind them.

With my designer hat on, it seems to follow the now common trend of a wavy shoulder line, recently seen on the Audi A/S5 amongst others.
The front has the new Infiniti grille and headlamp graphics seen on the G35/G37 Coupe. Its more corporate than the FX35, but is it better???? I think it works more successfully than on the G series though.
Part of that might be the bottom of the bumper. The G series lower bumper is quite weak, but the air intakes within the sump guard area is tidy.
I like the window graphics, nice and crisp and the crease that runs into the rear piller, but the back is a bit generic with the now common teardrop rear lights.
It could be based on the Rouge/ Qashquai (are they the same) chassis I suppose.
Nice job, but a little conservative |

I think some people take their cars just a little too seriously.:4:

| The EX35 is poised to slide into the lineup next to the highly successful FX series as early as this fall, and certainly before the end of 2007. Expect the crossover, a shoe-size smaller than the FX, to be priced in the mid $30,000 range. |

Hm......worth checking it out. if only it had 6-speed auto andthe new VQ37 engine....that would be sweet! I would seriously consider it if the handling was similar to FX35 and ride quality to...........Murano! ;)
It seems like Infiniti may have another winner... |

| i don't like the turbine style wheels. other than that it's quite nice. the rear looks kind of buick/ tribeca to me. apparently the fx is supposed to grow in size so this is filling a bit of a void. |
|
|
| Kris |
| If it has VQ3.7 engine and handles like FX - I might go for that next year......but will have to check it out first.... |
|

| the last link mentioned that the ex is going to have the VQ35HR, i'm assuming then that the new fx will have the vq37. |
|
|
| Kris |
I can live with VQ35HR. It develops 303 HP's or close to it. It is not a bad engine..;)
But the EX might be a little too small. Than again I was considering M35 and G35, so if it is similar size to G......it might be worth looking at.... |
|
|
| nissanlove |
| i'm not sure if the HR is the right choice in an suv application. id rather have more low range torque than all that HP. |
|
|
| Kris |
Common! All the spill about SUV's! EX is not an SUV! It is just a sports sedan that somehow got higher suspension! ;)
If I wanted an SUV - FX or EX would be the last car I would look at.....
and you know why........;) |

I agree w/ Kris, M35 or G35 was on my short list for when my lease was up. Ours is one of the obviously tons of families that doesn't need or want a "true" SUV. My tiniest of complaints lie in the FWD and I could live with our without the CVT. That said if the EX is very slightly smaller, RWD, and has even more power than the (very adequate) Mo count me in.
I love the looks of it, as long as it will drive as nice as it looks, will accept a tow hitch for our little trailer or bikes and will haul 4 people in comfort and 5 in a pinch I'm sold! |

I have FX35 and Murano. Two very similar and at the same time very different cars. I love them both. But after driving BMW and MB recently, at speeds up to 230 kph (140 mph) somehow I miss a true sedan with low center of gravity and good handling. And as we intend to keep the FX for a long time Murano will have to go. In a year or so. So the EX35 might be just what “doctor prescribed” for me….though there is the M35........and the new G35.....time will tell….anyway, Infiniti and Nissan seem to know what real car people want….and they deliver….
PS. Anybody visited Ford website lately? They have a new 7-sitter I do not know haw to describe it…..car? van? Looks like crap but has many nice amenities….. |
|
|
| nissanlove |
kris, the new 7 seater ford is called the fairlane. basically 2 boxes on wheels with slightly rounded corners. the interior is quite fair for a ford product though. and i like the big aluminum piece on the tailgate.
currently we are considering trading in our mazda 3 hatch for a g35 sedan sport. we've test driven it and the HR has a tone of punch and the dual intake causes it to sound like a small V8. |

| Judging by your car choices and aspirations you obviously have good taste [Kris] and appreciation for quality automobiles, did your computer fall victim of Pharming or Spam that lead you accidentally to look at a vehicle that requires Fix Or Repair(ing) Daily??? :D |

You would be surprised but I did own 2 Fords. And to bo honest I had less troubles with them than with the Murano......go figure....still would not change the Murano for either of them...:D |

Does not apply!
My 1997(bought used in 1999) XLT F150 with 150K on it has NEVER been in a repair shop except for brakes, tires, after-market muffler(not 'needed'), and a battery(that I replaced).
My 2001 F150 SVT Lightning has 103K on it and has run a 12.521 second(modified by me) 1/4 mile and never has been in a shop except for tires, after-market muffler(not 'needed'), and brakes.

Don't stereotype!:D

I will be interested but am concerned about gas mileage, my friends fx consistently stays at 18 or worse for the commute he has...
I don't need a sub 20 vehicle for my fun |
|
|

My wf averages 16mpg in her commute. When I take the FX the number climbs to 18 quickly ;)
Highway - 22 - 24 mpg. |
