USB stick with music (possible?) - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ok ... I gave up ...

I was searching over the forum, using google, and now ... help less...

Is there really now easy way, to have a small usb plugin at my dash borad, where I can connect a usb stick with any mp3 songs, and have them possible to browse using standard control buttons?
To get them play?
I have SAT radio button (not using SAT at all).

Is there rally no easy way, to my mp3 files to be played as only using aux input (with help of PAC unit's)?

The MO is 2003 SE with "nice" orange screen (which I would like to replace as well, but unfortunately, here in EU, the MO is not so popular, so ... not so many parts and possibilities as well to do smth).

Best regards

Sorry, No. With an MP3 player you provide, connected to the Murano via the PAC AAI-NIS, you can adjust volume and switch between CD, Radio and your MP3 player using the 'standard control buttons'. There are some CD/FM 'head units' which accept a standard USB stick, but integrating one of these into the Murano dashboard would be a very complicated and expensive project. There are many devices that are effectively USB sticks with built-in MP3 players. These would interface to the Murano thru the PAC unit like any MP3 player (via the earphone jack).

If the MP3 playing device you provide also has IR remote capability, then you MAY be able to add PAC's SWI-X interface and also select tracks, etc on your MP3 device using the steering wheel controls. There are some restrictions on which Murano sound systems are SWI-X compatible, and PAC's literature is not very clear on this.

Hope that helps.
matik
Thanks turbodog ...

So there is no hope ... :(

Well, I have a mp3 from Samsung, which can be used as a usb stick as well, but I have several (which are not mp3 players) as well. I was just simply thinking, about storing music on them ... an simply switching ... like in PC for example.
I know (from the forum literature) about possibility of hooking up ofer the PAC unit.
That was for me a last sollution, but apperantely this is the only one (at low cost) solution:(

The reason I'm considering it right now, is, that my friend from US is going to visit me soon, and he could bring some parts with him... apperatly, the only one will be the PAC and eventually the SWI-X ... if it will work (???)

Considering this SWI-X: exactly! This is not clearly said, will it work or not in Mo.
Does anyone installed it already?
I think, if it will not work, is the problem of second device (ie. mp3 player) and not the SWI-X from it self (?)
I think, installing it, will not harm MO (or better say, it's audio/electrical functionality) (?)

My interpretation is:
If you do NOT have the "Preset ABC" button, it will work, but only if you do not actually have a sat receiver installed.

If you DO have the "Preset ABC" button, it will not work.

Since the installation involves cutting/splicing into the wiring coming from your steering column, I would not risk installing the SWI-X unless you are sure it is compatible with your vehicle.

The first auto maker that recognises how popular these USB sticks have become, and provides a simple interface for using them, will win a lot of followers.

Hey,

If I'm understading it correctly. Will this then:

http://www.logjamelectronics.com/pacaainis.html

NOT work with my MO (2003, without NAV, with SAT, PRESET ABC, without acctual SAT radio installed)?

I have a SAT button as well as PRESET ABC. But when I'm pushing SAT, I'm getting info: no sat installed (or smth. like this).

My friend is about to arrive from US to Poland, so I would like him to bring me this with (PAC).
I'm just a little afraid, that it will not work after installed :(

Need just a easy answer: yes, U can buy it and install it, and it will work :) Or no :)...

The PAC NIS AAI2 will work with your Mo. I have the exact same radio setup and I am using one. However, my interpretation is that the SWI-X will NOT work with your Mo. Hope that helps.
matik
It helps a lot!

Thank's !!!

Just anoither way to frustrate the buyer and make more money for the stealer. That means the factory.
Nathan @ NBO
Unless you hid it under the console (maybe with a false front), in the glovebox (common), or under the seat. Most come with a remote also.

But the remote wouldn't work if the unit's infra-red was hidden, would it? So what would be the use of that? :(

Sure, I know there are such a units.
Sure I could do that ...
But why? I'm not SO desperate to hear my mp3 inside my car (can always burn an audio cd :)

I like the sound of BOSE and I think, this unit is not so bad ...
Just hoper, with a little of interest, I coud "pimp it up" or what ever they say in this magazine :)

USB stuick with music is possible thru factory integration tech. FMI -Please look into the thread on alpines FIT module called vehicle hub pro. This has a usb port and u can connect a usb drive with songs...

VJ
matik
looks nice, but it is a little expencive, as well, as there is to much to rebuild (i think?).

Anyway, I do not think it will work so easy, since I do not have a NAV display, just the standard one ... orange :(

Now I have added a Nissan Altima Hybrid ( this one is for modifiying )

Thanks for asking Don
CoolMomo
Eureka Multimedia Player

I installed this in my MO with Pac audio and GNET Nav box.

I can watch almost every movie files from Player.
(Player have 250G of hard drive)

Also, i am listening music with USB memory stick.
Just plug the USB memory stick to player and play.

it's kinda expensive but worth the money since i can play most of kinds of movies, music videos, downloaded TV shows, sports, almost every files and also I can use it at home with TV.
GripperDon
It looks like you buy a car kit that includes a screen of it own. Is that correct. If so can we see a picture of your installation ? Or does it in some way play thru the MO's Nav Screen.
CoolMomo
car kit is only for powering the player in the car.
it doesn't come with the screen.

I am using MO's nav screen to display the movie.

like some other owner uses Navtool or Nav box to play their pc or xbox, i bought GNET nav box to play this player thru mo's nav display. (I personaly, don't recommand GNET though)

I put this player in the armrest since i can control this player from the top of the player. It's easy to control.

so basically, it's same procedure getting a DVD player to play movie thru ur nav screen and oem stereo.
GripperDon
Want to make sure I am clear on this, Gnet or Navtool or Navbox will take the video output of a DVD and play it thru your Nav Screen?

When you are moving?

Do you need to oven the dash and cut wires etc.?

If you don recommend the Gnet what do you like?
CoolMomo
Yes you can use those units to display movies from DVD player, Media Player or XBOX thru Nav screen.

u don't have to cut any wires.
it's just simply plug and play.
when u give the unit a power, maybe u should ground it to power but that's all.

And yes, you can play movie while you are moving in Drive.

to install, you need to open the dash but as i said it's plug and play.

the reason i don't recommand GNET is they are pricey and their noise filter wouldn't work right.

My installer took 3 hours to figure things out which was wrong.
cuz the fuze kept going off due to the wrong noise filter.

so.. be aware.. it's all good now, but it was a pain.

ask 06Murano, he bought one of Navtool i believe.

Gnet Canada

this link is for Gnet that i bought.

I can post a picture of output if you want to,
not the installation process cuz it's already in it.
but i can take a photo of output, where to install the media player and how it works.
GripperDon
I contact 06Murano and study web sites. Thanks

hi CoolMomo,

How much did it cost you all togehter? The Alpine FIT is costing me @950 includes bluetooth and installation? it also have a port for usb...

But

If your solution costs me less and also we now know that works maybe its worth changing my mind? :) what do you say?

VJ
CoolMomo
i think it's about there..

with USD,
Gnet - 299
Pac audio - 79
Media Player with 250G - approximately - 340
installation - 150 (?)

USD= 868

But i didn't include tax.
I am not sure how much multimedia costs there in US
but u can adjust the price with hard drive.

Alpine gives u bluetooth, which media player doesn't have.

Does alpine allow you to play movie files too?

and I think you need video converter to play movies thru your
oem Nav screen with alpine as well. (if you are planning to display thru ur nav screen)

you can find cheaper video converter thru ebay.
I guess it was near $199. $100 cheaper than Gnet.

i always wanted to go with stock look, so i chose this option,
also, i can always take player home and put more movies
and watch it with my HD TV (quality is awesome)

Good Luck
mashvk

wow. this little thing can do so many stuff.
i am not 100% sure now if you need a converter.
u might wanna ask alpine or experts on audio video for murano here in the site.
mashvk
i have an installation tomorrow at best buy... lets see how it goes...
i might post pics...on the thread i started for alpine fit...

fingers xed... :)

VJ
mashvk
i ordered the parts from alpine and bestbuy was supposed to install it... the parts came and guys at bb figured our that it lacks and video conversion device and they said it wud have issus with the nav voice guide etc...

It looks like guys at bestbuy are not really confident about the installation..

So i went in and brought a mk6000 blue tooth car kit. It hooks up to the audio unit and uses the car speakers. It also support audio playback thru blue tooth so that resolves the aux input i was looking for.

And I went and ordered the ipod kit from jerseyparts

so lets hope the bb guys can do this with ease ...

How did the installation go?
I'm also curious if Parrot kit would interfere with PAC-NIS aux unit? I have the AUX via PAC box, but would also like to get Bluetooth going.
mashvk
I am still waiting on the parts.. installation most likely on thrusday..
will update

Thanks.
Vj
mashvk
the mk6000 works fine. best buy hooked 2 speakers and they will hook the remaining 2 this staurday.. i have not played any music yet but the phone conversation is crystal clear both the ways...

The ipod from the jersy parts gets easily hooked excpet that next previous does not work from the steering wheel... I am a little unhappy about it.
CoolMomo
does it mute the audio automatically when u receive incoming call?
mashvk
right now it does the front 2 speakers, once the back spkrs gets connected it will mute all...
CoolMomo
which means, we don't need extra mute box to mute the murano audio..

confused..

do u have NAV?

I know Nav has mute function. what if both nav and cellphone kick in at the same time? which one will mute which? haha
mashvk
well i got the 4 speakers now working with mk6000.. mute seems to be no issue.. I also played music thru blue tooth nd it sounded fine
