front windows rolled down on their own - Click HERE for Original Thread
2MCHPSI
This is the second time I have notced this. I park the car overnight, and in the morning, both windows are rolled all the way down in the front. This happened two times already. Nothing was missing, stolen, damaged, nothing even pried on, so it appears there is an electrical problem where the windows roll down on their own??

very strange, and i was wonderign if anyone else heard of anything similiar?
Thanks,
Kevin

One of the nice things about getting a new car is discovering all of the bells and whistles.

Try this one. Take your remote and stand where you can see your MO. Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the keyfob for 10 seconds and watch what happens.

Haha I want to thank you for that great info, and especially how you wrote it! I guess I should read up more on this new Murano I have :)

I have a toddler who loves to play with the remote it seems.

Thanks again.

Somebody contact Nissan and have them cancel the recall.

Just wanted to point out that I believe there WAS a TSB about this on the earlier MO's (2003, maybe 2004). I remember reading about it somewhere on this site.

You have a 2007, though, so it shouldn't affect you, but someone else reading this thread with an earlier MO might want to search around a bit to make sure.

Ahh got it. My kid has been playing with the keyfob from time to time so I am pretty sure he did it.

Due to the design of the remote, differing from most remotes of the past many of us have found that the buttons can be accidentally pressed by even keys in your pocket and cause the window-down phenomenon.

I may or may not have been your kid.

Is that a typo, or are you suggesting 2MCHPSI may be your daddy? :2:

LOL, oops, definately a typo....

I hereby officially promise I have not been breaking into fellow Murano owners' homes and attempting to cause trouble for their children :D

I think some Nissan Dealers should train their sales reps better on product knowledge; I bet half of the new Nissan Murano owners and various other Nissan owners that may have the feature are not aware of this. Nissan first added the Remote keyless window down feature on the 1995 Maxima with the Remote keyless entry option and to be more technical it started back in 1984 or 1985 with the 200SX SE coupe & Maxima with the keypad on the door, you could open the door, trunk and put windows down along with opening the sunroof.

That's what Owner's Manuals are for.

With every car, motorcycle, mini-bike, and bicycle I've owned, new and used, I would read the Owner's Manual from cover to cover to learn about it's operation. I am sure there are people who have never even opened up their manual.

Funny thing is I was an auto tech for years and did not think I would need to read any stinking manual. That career stopped in 1999, so I guess cars have changed a little since then :2:

Basically every car on the road can be jumped into and driven down the street without reading the manual but I agree and have always read the new manual from front to back the first night with EVERY new car. There's aways something new or different in there that is nice to know.

I also agree that every sales rep in every dealer should be completely versed in the functions, options & features of EVERY car in their particular dealership, come on, I soak up info on dozens of cars they can't commit to 10 made by 1 manufacturer? My own rep (who I otherwise really like) sent me on my way w/ in my new Mo w/o the key fobs, just the keys out of them. I questioned this a couple of times but he insisted that this was the new intellikey and since we were able to start the Mo without inserting it how could I argue. We went to dinner later that night and found we could not lock the car at all without inserting that key in the door. I read the owner's manual and found that there HAD to be remote(s) SOMEWHERE in our car preventing it from locking, I eventually found them in a bag in one of the storage compartments in the rear.

Not that it stops lots of us (obviously) from participating but I'd gamble that 3/4 of the questions asked on this or any forum could be answered w/ a quick search of the index in that magical book that comes with one's new car :)

Funny thing, I found my extra keys and 2 remotes in the rear compartment of my vehicle about 8 months after I bought the car because they said they couldn't find the remotes to my vehicle so they ordered 2 more remotes for me so now I have 4 remotes and 3 Master Keys.
sobamanismo
how did you get your car to lock w/ the remotes inside? Did it not give you the multiple beeping each time you tried to lock the doors?

I'm sure my salesman would have done the same thing had I not gone digging and found them, poor guy was pretty embarrassed :D

I have a 2003 MO, the intelligent key was not available yet; Oh and I also found a cargo net in there, I was about to buy one at the time.
Rolo
The other half of this trick is when you rolled the windows down with the key fob, changed your mind, and had to open the door, get in, put the key in the ignition to the on position, and roll up the windows.

Well, next time just put the key in the door lock, turn to lock and hold it for a few seconds...magic. turn to unlock and hold...magic again.

Don't do this in your driveway where your neighbors will see you and start wondering about you.:)

Seems like all IntelligentKey owners have had this experience with the buttons being unintentionally pressed. I did an extensive search trying to find a small rigid cell phone case or a shell to store it securely on the belt clip. But after a long search – noting found. Looks like a good business opportunity for someone to produce these small holders. And if they are of a good quality I am sure that many people would like to pay premium price if such holder was available. I would pay $20-$30 easily, perhaps even more..
Many suggested that NISSAN should recall all intelligent keys and make buttons much harder to press, some suggested wrapping the transmitter in foil to limit the range and so on and so forth.
Personally, I would be happy with a made to order nice little custom holster, but cannot find a place to order one from. Any suggestions? Even a smallest cellphone holder seems to be too large for the cool looking intelligent key. So while we all patiently waiting for a situation to change or someone take the initiative and make few dollars, I’d like to ask this resourceful group for suggestions.
What worked? What did not?

I definitely would not say "many". We had one, maybe two people who wanted an official Nissan recall.

Is this as good as it gets? It is twice as large as the key and likely does not prevent accidental triggering of the buttons very well...

I officially want to be the third person to want a recall. It's happened to me several times now. You think everything is all locked up in your car and you go out and the windows are down. So far I'm lucky it hasn't rained or snowed in my Mo. It would be nice if I could disable this "feature".
