Confused about NAV system - Click HERE for Original Thread
retjolly
When I bought my Nissan Murano in 2003 I did not get the Nav System and yes I noticed that the topic was covered before in the thread but I was unable to understand anything you guys were saying.

So please in plain English because I am not familiar with technical car lingo what can I do to get a NAV in my car in the box provided on the dash by Nissan. Also I want to be able to use the features of checking mileage and maintenance.

Thanks,
Confused Murano Owner

To the best of my knowledge there is no easy method of installing an OEM NAV system in your 2003 MO. It would cost way too much. The orange screen needs to be replaced before you could even consider it. That in itself is no easy task. My guess is that it would cost several thousands of dollars to do what you are asking.

My suggestion is to spend a few hundred and get a good dash-mounted GPS. I will give you all the information of the OEM model and more.

If I am not mistaken somebody mentioned $4k - $5 for the upgrade! It is a lot of money. You can buy a quality stand alone GPS for $200 - $1,200 dollars. It depends on how many features you want, but even a cheap one, for $200 - $400 has more than you will ever want!

My advise would be forget OEM upgrade and get an after-market.

Unless you have money to burn and REALLY want OEM solution...

Thanks for the feedback...

I have seen in the forum a lot of ideas and after market examples. I think I will give in and get an after market NAV.

This is what happens when you buy a new car at 20.. When I first saw the Murano I had to have one so I bought one of the first models and settled on color and the NAV system (by not having them).
