I am going to order a Fumoto valve (F103) I'm not sure if I should get it with or with out the nipple? Anybody who uses the Fumoto on a MO have a opinion either way?
Matt

With nipple!
I am using 10 inch plastic tube so there is absolutely no spills during oil changes. Oil goes directly to the oil catcher. |

Thats the way I will go. |

Kris,
It looks like it comes w/ a plastic washer. I asume the crush washer is not used.

You are right. It comes with a plastic washer and it is what I used.
I had the valve on the Murano for probably 2 years now. No problems whatsoever! I was so pleased that I bought second one for the FX. |

Consider my comments a repeat of Kris. I have the valve on my MO and my wife's Prizm, both with the nipple. Love it, but make sure that you notify the dealership or mechanic if you ever have them do an oil change, because you don't want them REMOVING it.
Oh, and I don't bother using a tube attached to it. It's a nice feature, and if you do it carefully you could just drain the oil right back into the old containers, but I just let it drip straight into my pan without the tube. |

| I use the Fumoto valve without the nipple on both of my cars with no issues. |

I have the valve, without the nipple, and absolutely no problems at all. It makes almost zero mess even without the nipple - you just need to put drain pan underneath it.
Its a great great little gadget. |

The Fumoto valve sounds...great!
But, the more aggravating issue in changing oil is the filter!, as the oil gets all over the frame and makes for a really dirty mess.
On my 2003 MO I just let paper towels catch the fallout, but on my new 2007 I decided on the first change to try a sheild. Really simple,
I used an old plastic coffee can...just cut the bottom off (making sure to leave the flared part), then split the side between the hand holds. Before you remove the filter, slide the old Folgers can over the frame and it will shield the filter's oil into your pan, Then wipe off to use next time. Very cheap remedy for an age old design problem! |
