Gasoline prices soon to reach $4.00/gallon.....

Market forces or price gouging?

Time for hybrid? Which one?

Alternative energy sources?

Questions, questions, questions........no answers.....:(

Right.. filling up once a week for $50 is bad enough.. 18 gallons at $4 a gallon... Holy ****e.. thats like a $72 fillup...

yikes, apparently the prices are supposed to stay this high throughout the summer and are expected to fall to around 80-90 cents/ litre by the end of the year.

It will take you more than 4 years to make up the difference between Hybrid and what you have now. And thats at 5/gallon. Just figure you spend $6000-8000 more for the hybrid, I did a report on it for my speech class. Unless gas is 6+/gall, its not worth it to get the hybrid.

I agree w/ X, not to mention the fact that I'm more wary of that very expensive battery replacement they almost guarantee at 100k miles a WHOLE lot more than people's questions about the CVTs potential repair/replacement costs (referring to a thread a couple weeks ago regarding used Mo's)

In the immortal words of Mr. Jim Carey, "I'm going to piss and moan and take it up the tailpipe" [about the price of gas]

Price Gouging
Time for Plug in Li-Po Hybrid
Alternative energy sources, Ethanol, Bio Diesel, Nuke plants and Hydrogen

Any thing to stop the greed or at least shift it's beneficiary.

As Xconcepts stated, it will take YEARS to recoup the cost of a hybrid based on the difference in mileage and fuel price. Buying a hybrid is a "feel good" and environmental purchase rather than an economic one.

I'd just drive the MO and enjoy it knowing it gets better fuel economy than many SUVs out there. If you're worried about the cost of fuel, there are plenty of fuel efficient, used cars out there that are fairly thrifty with gas. My '02 C230 Coupe is a nice compromise vehicle with comfort, convenience, power and 31+ mpg highway mileage.

I just commute on my bike in the spring/summer/fall :) 40+ MPG city :4: I'm trying to get a new job that will cut my commute to 2 miles, meaning I can mountain bike when the weather is nice :claphead:
