Hello everyone... new here. I will be trading in my car for a 2005 Murano. I look forward to reading and posting a few messages as they relate. If I can help anyone I will and already know there is a fountain of information on these boards. I have owned a couple of Nissans before. 1999 chilcoot pathfinder, 2001 pathfinder and a 2003 Altima. I am trading a 2003 Cadillac STS straight up for a 2005 Murano. No car is perfect some are just worse than others... at least that my take on it.
I hope this is the right place to introduce myself??
if not my apologies |

Welcome! Browse around the forum and get familiar with the site and the major members. If you ever have questions, do a search and then ask if you still don't have your full answer. I can guarantee you that the people on this forum are much much much MUCH more helpful than any Nissan dealership will EVER be.
Since you haven't yet picked up your MO, search around on here to get some info on some key things to verify when you take delivery. |

Welcome to the forum.
Hmm, trading a Cadillac STS for a MO. I will be curious to hear how the MO's driving experience compares to the Caddy.
Enjoy the ride.
Oh, and before you ask, there is nothing wrong with the front windows. They are not rolling down by themselves. They can be opened remotely by pressing and holding the UNLOCK button on the keyfob. Some people put the keyfob in their pocket, inadvertently press the button, and then wonder why the front windows are down. :p

Welcome. I, too, am a soon to be new owner. These are the best people in the whole world on this forum. Very patient. Answering all my questions and making sure there is no stone unturned.
Tell us what you are looking at with your 2005?
Joe is making a huge joke at my expense with the window and keyfob comment. |

Hi sunspot congratulations. I read a thread on the purchase you are about to make. 2007...nice
What do you mean by "What I'm looking at?
The current vehicle I have is very nice but my wife has a hard time getting in and out of it because of the cars stance. I can't afford two cars at this time so the Caddy goes.
Happy wife = Happy life |

I guess what I meant to say is what type is the 05 you are going to get?
I know what you mean when you say your wife has problems getting in and out. My current car PT Cruiser, is "getting a little low" for me to easily climb in and out of. I need something that is a little easier on the knees and hips. The Murano filled the bill and looks good, too. It has the same type of uniqueness that the PT Cruiser has. No matter what other manufactures try, they just can't match the beautiful sleek body style of either.
I have been looking at the Murano for 2+ years now. |

Glad to hear you can get in and out easy, it is very important for my wife.
What type? Funny thing is I don't know yet, one of my best friends owns a car lot (been in business 25 yrs) and I told him my wife's problems getting in and out. He sold me the caddy (actually he has sold me almost everything i have ever driven). There is a Murano coming in from Ottawa on a trade and when he gets it in, its goes to me. All i know is its black and loaded.
I know what people are going to think and i know all about used car salesman stories. i would never buy a vehicle unseen except from my friend.
He is so good to me that although he doesn't have a bay for servicing cars whenever my car needs service I just drop it off in the morning and he gives me a car and calls when my car is fixed. Sometimes he calls the same day some times not for two or three days. Sometimes he charges me for repairs sometimes not. I'm lucky to have such a great friend.
I feel very privilaged and lucky to never have to worry about purchasing or repairing cars. |

Are there any plans to clone him? Sounds like the kind of salesguy every town needs. |

Welcome. I, too, am a soon to be new owner.
I think I am too! :D
I've posted a couple questions, and have gotten great responses. I've been looking here and there, and all the sudden a couple days ago found a dream MO on a local website. This prompted me to call the credit union to get pre-approved for the financing, and we'll be checking it out tonight!
Here's hoping we're impressed, and that I'm a soon to be owner of an '06 SE! (merlot with 12k miles and every available option) :2: |

How's this for customer service... (keep in mind, we're in a large metro area)
There's a local dealer that I've heard good things about through the grapevine. They are not a 'branded' dealer, and have a lot of 'higher end' late model cars - mostly lease returns. When I bought my last car, I did a lot of test driving there, but ended up buying at a dealer where we had some contacts. They even keep the keys for each car above the visor, and don't ride with you, or even ask for a name or copy of your license.
So I call them this morning, just to see if the car we're interested in is still in stock. The car is still there, and the guy strikes up conversation - very nice and helpful, but not 'pushy' in the least. I decided to give the credit union a call to check on financing, and got that all lined up.
We decided to stop by after work tonight. So I have to drive the complete opposite direction to pick up our son from daycare - actually spent about 2 1/2 hours in the car by the time I got to the dealer. Pulled in and parked, and started to walk around. A lady comes out and asks if there's something specific we're looking at. She proceeds to tell us that they actually closed at 5:00 (it was 6:30).
I followed her into the office to get her card, when the gentleman I had talked to earlier came out. He proceeded to offer to let us take it home for the night to try it out, and bring it back in the morning. We have never done business with this dealer before, and had about 3 minutes of conversation. They made a copy of my license, and handed me the (smart) key. Just like that, we drove off the lot. Both salespersons were now there nearly 2 hours late and had kids waiting at home. I have never even taken a test drive in this town at any other dealer without a salesman in the car with me, let alone got an offer to take the car overnight.
Whether or not we decide to buy, this is a company I want to do business with!
Although I am in love with this car... :2:

You would never see that kind of service from my dealer. Even after I paid cash for my MO the Sales Manager was reluctant to hand over the keys. :3:
It sounds like you are very fortunate to have a dealer like that in your area. Do they also service the cars they sell?

When I first went to this dealer a few years ago, they did not. Actually, the way I found out about them is from asking my mechanic about cars they would recommend that they didn't see come in with lots of problems. They gave me the dealers name, because they did the service for them. They told me when a new car came in, they got it, and went over it top to bottom. If there was a service due in 2000 miles, they told them to do it.
They are now in a new location, and do now have their own service. It's somewhat out of the way for me, so not sure I'd go there or not. But in my very few minutes with them, I'm obviously very impressed. Oh, he also quoted me $1021 for a 7 yr/100k extended warranty, which seams like a very good deal from what I've been reading. If nothing else, it's peace of mind for the CVT for a few years.
Again, this is not a dealer that is specific to any particular brand, but it's also not your normal corner lot that has a random pile of cars. Check out their inventory, and you'll see what I mean: Poquet Auto
Assuming they'll give me a respectable amount for my Maxima, I should be a MO owner in a few hours! :D
(did I say my 7 y.o. wanted to buy it as soon as he saw the DVD system? :) ) |

I am sure you will enjoy your new Mo. Are you a modder? Do you have the time. and finally I hope it's a Sl for the softer ride to try and sompare with the Caddy, enen though the ride may be jut a bit firmer it control is excellent for it's size and shape.
Post us a picture when you get it. |

There are good people out there you just have to find them.
Quick story about the my friend with the lot. This was a few years ago
Hockey playoffs were on for my son. He plays for hometown town team but goes to school 2 1/2 hours away. I have a leased 2001 Pathfinder. I drive and pick him up and bring him back for the game. After the game we get a quick bite with the team and them I drive him back to school so he can make school the next day and I drive home. Total time on highway is 10 hours for me.
Next day I'm at the lot (my friends son was the goaly) and I tell him that the playoffs are gonna kill me on my lease if the team goes anywhere in the playoffs. He says take that Buick and drive it. The Buick is brand new.
Next game same thing 10 hours on the road. Next day I'm back at the lot to give him his car back. He says what are you doin, keep it until the end of the playoffs. We need your boy every game.
I had the car for two months and put countless hours and miles on it. We won three series and lost in the finals in game six in double overtime and game 7 would have been in our barn
This is just normal for Dave to do. Pretty hard to beat that for service.
FYI his car lot is called Pastime Motors |
