I have a 2004 Murano and I am having problem with a leak from the belt tensioner bolt that sticks up you tighten the serpetine belt with and it is rubbing a hole in the bypass hose that runs into the valley between the valve covers. When I cut the end off this hose and put it back on, I tightened the serpentine belt back up and that piece was right back into the hose again and three months later it has rubbed a hole back in the hose. Any help is greatly appreciated and if you need futher explaination please email me at bsgrayblay@yahoo.com my name is Robbie.
Thank you in advance |

Just to let you know I also replaced the belt when I tried to fix the hose last time. Also to let you know my experience, I am a ASE Master Mechanic but have only worked at GM and Subaru dealers. I got out of the business professionally about a year ago and told my wife see could buy anything see wants at that time so I have not got the everyday experience with these vehicles. If you would like to call to discuss this to make it quicker or for me to call you email me at bsgrayblay@yahoo.com or we can just do this through email, it is up to you. Hope the pictures help. I need it!
Thanks

I just took a look under my hood and the hose in question looks to be located about 3/4" closer to the front of my MO. Now the question is, what shifted - the bracket or the hose?
As a temporary measure you can slip a length of tubing over the adjusting bolt to prevent it from cutting into the hose.

I also had a look under th hood as as with Joe's Murano, I can clearly see clearance between the bolt and hose. 1/2 to 3/4 inch.
Something shifted your bracket...check it out.. |

I can't get anything in there, it is so tight I have put the clamp on then pry the tensioner stud back and push the hose on. Then as I tighten the belt the stud that you tighten the belt with just digs into the hose. What do you guys think it is a bent bracket for the tensioner?

Iwould be affraid to pry that hose forward because it is a press in nipple into like the somemajor part and if breaks it is going to be problems, but who knows? That might be what it takes.

Well I went to the Nissan dealer just to ask if they had ever seen this problem before and they said no. So I came home to take it apart to find out what is wrong. The bracket for the tensioner is completely broken with a piece missing in it. I attached some pictures of what the bracket looked like. Been driving this for at least 8000 miles. Can't believe it did not throw the belt or make a noise.

You are not alone. I believe I have seen similar photos here on this site.
I agree with you. I, too, am surprised you did not throw the belt.
