Power Passenger Seat in Cloth? - Click HERE for Original Thread
toolhandee
I am assuming the answer is No, but I was wondering if they offer a power passenger seat in the Cloth models?
Thanks!
Gonzo
I don't think so.... I wish my power seat had memory. I think a power seat without is useless.

Thanks Gonzo. We don't really want leather because we like to take our dogs with us on the weekends and I'm afraid they'd ruin it in no-time. I wish you didn't have to get leather to get the better options!

Good assumption. The 4-way power front-passenger seat is part of the leather package. You can't have one without the other.

Agreed. If you search my posts, you'll see several rants that I had about this. I wanted VDC, Memory Seats, Power Passenger Seats, HID, Backup Camera, Intelligent Key. Can't get ANY of those unless you're willing to get leather. My wife and I both hate leather seats. I even talked to a couple dealers about ordering everything, then having them swap out the seats with cloth ones. They wouldn't do it. So instead I just bought a cheaper MO!

If you find out anything let me know. I am actually looking to get the power passenger seat with the 10 say adjustments just like the driver's seat. I think the passenger should be equally as important as the driver.
GripperDon
Cover it when you need to with slip on covers.
sobamanismo
I agree w/ Gripper, if you were willing to pay and wanted all the options but didn't want leather why not order a set of Wet Okole (or similar) covers.

I find it much easier to clean leather than cloth from dog and people messes but that's just one man's opinion ;)
toolhandee
Thanks for the replies.
I also asked about switching out the passenger seat and they said there was too much involved with safety and they don't do that. I can be very comfortable in the driver's seat but without the power adjustment in the passenger seat, I'm uncomfortable because of a previous injury. I really don't like leather seats and neither does my husband. They just never seem to stay as firm as cloth, plus the dog issue, plus the hot-weather-wearing-shorts issues.
Are seat covers any better than they used to be 'back in the day'? I remember they used to slide around, especially when entering or exiting and were basically a PITA.
Thanks again!
GripperDon
All that is required is to use a NEW set of seat track bolts for the floor attachment as the bolts are torqued to yield at installation. How do you think they do it in a repair shop? Total the car if One Seat was completely damaged. Seats get removed all the time.
toolhandee
Yes, that's what I thought too. A friend of mine had a seat replaced in their Explorer with no problem.
It really doesn't matter though now that I know you can't get a power passenger seat in cloth. Nothing to switch it out with.

I've never liked the feel of seat covers. You have to get REALLY good quality ones to make it feel and look right, and they're quite expensive. Besides that, I didn't really WANT to pay a whole bunch more, so I was able to let it go. The one thing that really irritated me was the VDC, though. There is absolutely no reason at all to not allow that without leather. Some moron in the marketing department probably thought it would increase the leather sales by making VDC require the leather package.
sobamanismo
You are going to pay $200+ for a good set of seat covers, but therein lies the difference between the $19.99 specials at Walmart and something of quality. The Wet Okole ones are about the nicest I've seen (and felt) but I don't have them on my Mo so I cannot comment specifically on THIS application.

If only it was real leather and then up to german quality, it would be worth the extra. You can get better quality leather covers than OEM for $600 on eBay and it is real leather everywhere.

My dad's Benz S Series leather is at least 3 times thicker than the MO's but I agree that the car is also 3 times more expensive.

IMHO, good cloth is better than cheap leather and leatherette.

I'm sure that cars in the S's class begin to be the exception but anything below that ALL cars with leather interiors have "Leather where your body touches" and leatherette otherwise.

Wow, I didn't even realize that you can only get a 4 way power passenger seat even if it's leather. Am I understanding it correctly that it would only move closer or farther from the dash and the back would straighten or recline? No up/downs, tilts or lumbar or anything?
That's really disappointing...luckily the pros still outweigh the cons though.

my opinion:I dont like power seats!
They are too slow, 6'2" my wife 5'6" she slides seat pretty well to the front and i ride'em all the way back but when you are on the run and try to get to the car with seat all the way up you could find yourself all crumbled up looking for the memory power seat button and waiting for the seat to get back to the saved position,
now I got a manual sliding seat and is so much quicker pull the hand bar and seat goes back in no time.
I would love 'em if they could be turbocharged power seats.:runaway:

Ahh Grasshoppa, but Nissan has thought of that, with the intellikey you both get a key, and after you have your mirrors, seat AND pedals just precisely where you like them you save those settings to your memory AND keyfob. Now when you approach the car and either unlock the door by the little button or your fob the aforemenitioned items all do their little dance for you before you even step in :)

Ahh, Master, you and Nissan are so wise. That is the perfect solution. A car that knows who you are and that you are in a hurry.
sobamanismo
IMHO that and dual zone climate control are the best things they have come up with for people that share their car with a spouse ever!
