Will the '07 MO run ok on regular gas??? opinions and thoughts please---thanks:confused:
Lightninrod
Yes, it will but you'll probably get better mileage and performance with higher octane as the PCM has the ability to adjust for different levels of octane as I understand it.

We just got our first MO(2007 SL) and the first tank full was 87 octane. Since then, we've used both 93 and 89 octane.

I have been running mine with regular gas since I bought it in February 3100 miles ago and have had no problems. I even tow with the regular without issue. The higher octane will give you a little more UMPH as I understand it.

Hope this helps.

I mostly run regular, but did a couple of tanks of 89 and I definitely noticed a difference. I'm not sure about gas mileage since it only gets limited use in the summer, and it's just the occasional stop & go 9 mile trip to work, so it sucks with 87 or 89, but I definitely notice more umph with the 89. With 89 20 cents more per gallon though, and with a bike to have fun with, 87 is just fine for me :)

I have also been using regular since we got the MO last February and haven't noticed any problems. I still have to try a higher octane and notice the difference.

Thanks for the insight guys, at .20+ per gal for the other stuff I am wondering if the slight increase in mileage is worth it! The mileage sucks right now (only 2000 miles on the counter) 19 city and 25 on a recent trip but is better than my '05 pathfinder ( a real pig on gas)

I'm lucky if I get 18 MPG city, but like I said it's pretty short jaunts and all stop and go. Thank god the bike gets 40+ MPG.

19/25 certainly isn't bad. Well, I mean it's in line with the ratings.

When gas prices are near $4/gallon (which is still cheap, you whiners) an extra $0.20 is not a big difference to pay when your car recommends it. Since that $0.20 upgrade is pretty constant and doesn't fluctuate with the oil prices, as oil prices raise the reason to NOT use higher-octane goes down.

At $4/gallon, it's only 5% more to put in "premium" so why not do it? It MIGHT improve mileage (very slightly if any) and it will be more fun to drive! ;)

Well you could always use our oil under our sand, and leave the others to play in there sandbax by themselves.
bapoop
Well stoker we could always use the Alberta oil/sand mixture but it is hard on injectors:2: or we could eliminate a few spotted owls and blackfooted ferrets and those tiny snail darter thingys, you know things that are really important to our survival:rolleyes: or we can channel some of the money we spend on wars towards finding a cheaper alternative to fossil fuels and at the same time save the whales, keep the arctic ice cap from melting all over the place. Think how deep the oceans would be if sponges did not live there----thats it! kill all of the sponges and the extra water will have somewhere to go----brilliant:D

How many miles are on your car? If it is under 10,000 then just be patient, the MPG numbers will improve.

The secret to getting good mpg numbers with the MO is a broken-in engine, properly inflated tires, and a light foot. The last item is the most important.

haha then I must be patient, I only have 330 miles on it =) Its funny you say that about the light foot, my fiance said that ever since I got this car I drive the speed limit, unlike my last car =) I am babying this one.

That's probably normal at this point, Nicci, being brand new and not broken in and all.

Are you heavy-footed on the gas and hit the breaks hard as you come to the red light? Are you being honest? hehehehehe :D Ease up on the gas and try not to be gunning to the next red light, and let the CVT take you up smoothly. You don't need to be on the gas the whole time to let the CVT glide you. You'll notice that the car is very good at gliding around 40MPH, and you can ease to the next stop.

I'm getting around 18 City and 22 Highway. That's probably about average, right down the middle for this car, I reckon.
I just did a little road trip (1300 miles and still only have 2300 miles total on the car), when I noticed that anywhere above 70MPH and the mpg goes down considerably. If I kept it at around 70MPH, I could probably get 25 mpg for the whole tank with rest stops here and there. Yeah it's nice to be able to drive 80+ like everyone else does, but that seriously cuts down on the mpg, so I tend to cruise around 70MPH. If I drove around 60-65MPH, then I can probably get 30mpg on flat highways.

I have never had decent mileage in city driving. But I don't drive in the city that often. On the freeway, depending on my speed, I can get up to 26 mpg.

HAHA I am serious, I really do not gun it, the car is so smooth I just let it glide along, I know it takes a bit to wear in so I will be patient =)
I also do not slam on the brakes, I actually had some sqeeking when I press on the brakes lightly so I am always on the lookout for the SQEEEEEEEEK when I compress the brakes lightly. =)

I've got 1007 miles and so far am getting 21.8 mpg. I've only been 2 places so far the first trip was a 700 mile round trip. The next a 150 mile trip. I filled with 89 oct. the first time and 91 the next. I'll try rotating for a while and see which one I like.
