Dash Light Gremlins - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a 03 Murano, and have a gremlin with some of the dash lights. The bulb in the fuel gauge and the one in the speedometer will go out and then after a few days or a week or two will come back on. Has anyone had this to happen? How do you get into the gauge cluster to change bulbs?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't follow.... do you mean the lights will come on and then turn off after a few days? That is odd.

The lamps are replaceable, however it does not sound like a lamp problem. An intermittent problem like you describe can be next to impossible to troubleshoot. My guess is it is a problem with the circuitry.

Gonzo, What I mean is that when I turn on the lights the lights in the fuel and speedometer may come on or may not. The light in the fuel gauge stays out most of the time now, but the one in the speedometer may work today and not tomorrow. I’m with njjoe that it's an intermittent problem in the circuitry, or a bulb that's not in its socket properly that’s why I want to get into the gauge cluster to see if I can track any thing down. When I looked at the dash/gauge cluster I can’t see any screw to remove to get in there. So it must have some interlocking tabs or something to open it up, and just wondered if anyone here had open up the dash/gauge cluster.

Thanks
Gonzo
Ah, I follow now.... What happens when you change the dash light brightness?

The dash lights that are working will dim then come back up but no change to the ones that are out.

My suggestion is to purchase a Service Manual online, remove the gauge cluster, and replace the lamps. If it works it will be worth the $20 spent on the manual.

Good luck.
