| Hey, if you have an after market Nav/GPS I'm really interested in seeing how you've integrated it into your Murano. I'm looking for a solution that can integrate elegantly and doesn't necessarily stick out like a sore thumb... If you have pics, or have seen something please post! Thanks! |

Hi,
Thank you for posting this topic. I just started a Poll regarding GPS units---still undecided, but leaning towards a Garmin Nuvi 350, so your message will be helpful. I did see some vent mounts for Garmins on eBay that look like a good solution. Someone here also posted a picture of a suction cup mount for the Garmin that was placed up near the rear view mirror on the drivers side. There is also a tripod looking Garmin holder that sits on dash. I would like to find something that would place the GPS right smack in the middle of the dash right above the Murano screen. Does anyone here have that GPS holder? Will be checking back to see what responses you get---hopefully a few clever ideas. :) Way out on the windshild with a suction mount is not an option....too far out to see. I've tried that. |

The nice thing I like about my setup is that I can interchange my ipod and ipaq in the same spot.

| Thanks for posting the pictures. Your HP (?) GPS looks great! However, I really can't see from these pictures how it is set up. What is the holding it in place and where? |

Thank you for the pics and descriptions. I just placed an order for a Proclip mount for my Garmin c550.

Here is where I have my Garmin c550. I don't find that it interferes with my view at all. I'm just using the standard mount that came with the unit.

Hi Jason,
Since I'm only starting to consider a GPS----and leaning towards the Garmin Nuvi series I want to thank you for posting the picture of how yours appears inside the Murano dash. However, what exactly does the mount consist of and how does it secure the Garmin to the dash. I wouldn't think a suction cup would stick to the rough grain plastic stuff on the dash.
Is this Garmin mount something you permanently attach?
I've seen several Garmin holders. Suction cup types, heavy tripod types that sit on the dash, vent mounts and the Proclip the previous poster here provided pictures of. Just wondering how yours works? Thanks. |

The mount included with my Garmin has a suction cup base. It works great on glass and other smooth surfaces. For surfaces like the dash board, it doesn't stick at all. The Garmin unit came with a round plastic disc that has adhesive tape on one side to stick to the dash. It's sort of like double sided tape. I stuck this to the dash, and the suction cup sticks to this disc.
I'm not overly concerned about the sticky disc leaving any marks or residue on the dash. I'm planning on keeping the GPS unit for the life of the car. When I go to sell it, hopefully the stickiness left on the dash after removing the disc comes off with some goo gone or something. I don't think it'll be that big of a deal. |

One concern, if you want to call it that, will probably be the UV will probably discolor the rest of the dash a bit except for the area that is hidden under the disk. That may show itself when you remove the disk.
You can also get stands that have weights on them. I had one and it worked well on the dash. |

I don't think this looks bad at all...you will love the Nuvi. |

Now that is where I want to put my new GPS! Just like yours right above and in the middle of the dash and display screen. It looks neat there! However, as from previous pictures and notes posted here---More information is needed.
How is held in place? I'm enjoying the pictures, but the information of how and what is holding these units is lacking---More pictures of the actual holders, names of holder manufactures, ect. and how they are held in place on the dash area would be so helpful---Thank you so much. |

Mounted using the garmin mounting bracket and disk. Just measure correctly to get perfect placement. Perfect setup for me...and within easy reach. My passengers love the widescreen display as well. |

Great mounting placement San JoseMo. I just ordered a Nuvi 660 after becoming disappointed in my new c550.
I assume;) you used the sticky patch to attach the ball mount to the dash?

Yeah I just used the adhesive mounting disk. I tried different mounting places, such as the little corner to the left of steering wheel. I found that it looks best sitting right on the top of the murano display.

| I don't like to stick anything to my dash and the suction cup method seems to place the nav unit too far. I use this on my dash https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=806 Its moveable so you can stash it out of sight when not in use. You can position it anywhere on the dash and it won't move around. I had a bad experience before where someone broke my window looking for nav unit because they saw suction cup bracket on the window. |

I decided to go with this mount.
And, my Nuvi 660 works great. I especially like the ability to enter coordinates instead of a street addy. It finds them just as it would an addy but the fishing ponds I go to don't have street addys. :)

I bought this here at a lower price and it includes the ball connector so you don't need to buy the additional mount from Garmin (for more money).
