I've been looking at Murano ads so much that my eyes are starting to cross!
I'm finding out that most dealers have all cars listed as an SL or SE which I guess is because of the VIN, but it makes searching very time-consuming to weed out the ones that aren't what you're looking for. I'm starting to rely on pictures more than the descriptions, so, I was wondering... does the ignition for cars that use the Intelli-key look any different than regular? I saw one car with tan interior that had tan plastic in the ignition instead of just silver and it looked different than other 2006s I've seen. Does that mean anything?
Thanks in advance for any info!

Me again...in case that was confusing, I guess I'm asking if the tan plastic I'm seeing in the ignition is actually the knob to turn to start it keyless?
One more question along the same lines... Is there anything I can look for in photographs that would let me know if the car has Navigation installed? (other than them showing the actual screen with maps on it!)
Thanks again, we hope to have a new-to-us Murano very soon and just want to find the right one. :) |

The tan piece of plastic where the key would normally go is indeed for intelligent key models. They way I started identifying intelligent key models is by the black button on the door handle.
One way to tell if it has nav - if they have a shot of the dash - is that the far left button in front of the screen will say "map" instead of "trip". Even though I have nav on my new MO, I'm not sure - is the plastic antenna for nav? If so, that would be another easy way to tell. |

The intelligent key does have "knob" of sorts - there is a distinct outcropping that I grip and twist. My interior is black so not sure about the colour.
I agree the most distinct feature to look for is the black button on the front door handles. |

Thanks for the tip about the door handle, that will help!
I've squinted as hard as I can at the buttons and can't tell if the word says Trip or Map. I don't know what you mean about the antenna. I wish my eyes were better, I'm tired of having to call and talk to dealers to ask questions about things not covered in the description...it's just so time-consuming.
Thank-you again. :) |

As far as I recall, the ignition switch is the same in intelli/non-intelli equipped cars. The intelli-key cars can also be started with a traditional key (either the valet key, or the key contained in the intelli-key keyfob). Indeed, the only way I can think you could visually identify intelli key models is via the black button on the door handles, or the chrome button on the rear hatch.
My ignition switch is black, matching my black interior. I assume the tan switch simply corresponds to the tan interior. |

False. With the intelli-key you have the protrusion, kind of resembling the body of a key (big and square) whereas with the non-intelli-key models there is no such "handle". The key is always used, so that provides the "handle". This is comparing an 03 to an 07, but I assume it holds true for all non-intelli-key MOs. |
