Last time I saw him, he was cleaning...
Yup, finally became a Zaino convert. LOL!
Learned about it here, finally put it in to practise, there...
Hope you guys are all doing well and still luvin' your Mo's!
Jim :7:
Oh, forgot this.... I'm the slow car on the left. First time I ever ran on a drag strip.

This is the car that was on the right lane...

Good to see you here and at the LX forum! |

Lovely and very quick vehicle Jaak! My 'farm truck' did pretty well in the 1/4 too.

My sons and I were just discussing your car yesterday.
"Remember jaak"?
Oh yeah Dad, from Nissanmurano.org.
He has one?
"Yep"!
Good to see you Jim.
We ESP'd ya man!
:D |

Hi jaak. Why you were so slow! :D
Good to see you still enjoying your ride.....;) |
|
|
| jaak |
Ahh... Just like home...
I still look at Muranos and smile. It comes up with my LX buddies every once in a while, I'll talk about the Murano this, or that... I'm reminded every day how nice the Murano's display of temperature setting is and the button to slave the passenger's setting to the driver. I have split climate control on the Magnum, but it's always split.
N2, it took a while to be convinced on the Zaino, but one day a couple of friends were over... Hemiwagn and Token, from LXForums and after helping me swap wheels from the winters to the summers, they said, let's zaino your car! That was 1:30 pm, and they left at 2 am... It was everything, clay bar, polish, multple stages but the car absolutely glowed at the end. I was hooked... LOL!
Thanks Mr3Putt, I think about you guys more than I visit, but it's good to visit!
Lightninrod, I had a guy at a gas station say to me "Is that the one with the truck engine in it?" Never thought about it that way, but I suppose 6.1L isn't normally considered a car engine!
mgthe3, I know a few guys with these things now... Mine's pretty stock still, but a friend in upstate NY has one with CNC machined heads, new cam, high stall TQ, modified ECM, high flow cats and exhaust and intake and he's made it in to the 11's with the help of only a 100 shot of nitrous.
Even without the nitrous, he pulls away from me hard. I drove it and the car's sweet.. Like mine, but more of the same.
Good thing I didn't have the cash for the cam and heads right then, or it would be gone.
Kris, eh, it was a first time... LOL! Got my reaction time down to .093 It's fun learning the lights, yourself, and the car, so see when you have to actually launch, to be moving for the green. I was staging shallow and trying my best to be in motion when crossing the line. It's one thing to read about it, another to do it!
Could have used the Murano's AWD a couple of time this winter! |
|

Oh no Dan, I knew what you meant... :)
It just triggered the thought about the "Car with the truck engine"...
Reminds me of when people were buying pickups 'cause you could get a big V8 in a pickup dirt cheap and then mod the heck out of it.
Then the manufacturers caught on, raised the price of pickups and brought out versions like yours to capture the market.
It makes me laugh, the Magnum is classified as a truck. So like the Murano, it comes with the rear windows tinted. In reality, the concept and storage space is similar to the Murano, but lower and a heck of a lot faster.
I drove the Magnum that was done to run high 11's. SWEEEEEET! Like mine, but with even more get up and go!
Get's you to the speed limit very quickly! |

| hey jaako. one thing i like most about chrysler products is the paint. the red inferno and the black pearl are absolutly the two best colors available. how is the gas milage?? i can imagine it can be pretty expensive to fill up with these rediculous prices. i saw an 05 charger srt-8 in the paper the other day going for 22 grand.... maybe i'll get my hands on some power soon enough...:D |
|
|
| jaak |
Hey guys!!!!
:D That's what I'm doing right now, it's great to see you still on here!
zebelkhan, thanks, it's a lot of fun! Been pulled over 4 times by the police, wanting to check it out. No tickets, I'm a good boy. (When people are looking... LOL!)
Grip, it's so true, but fortunately not something I worry about. I see the gas as an investment in my well being, an entertainment expense. I never look at the fuel mileage and I don't back off on the pedal because of it.
There are many things people spend much more money on for entertainment that are worse than gas! I'd rather put in gas then go see a movie at theatre with $10 popcorn and drink! LOL!
So it's still a blast driving this car. I'm still delighted with it, and it's still not what I expected for a Dodge...
I wonder if I'll manage to keep it when the Challenger comes out, or if I'll break down...
Nissanlove, well, I covered the gas, but the paint? Yeah I like the Inferno Red, but once the Zaino hit it, it looks like a nice wet cherry on a sunny day. Just awesome!
05 Charger SRT8? Sure it's not an 06? I thought the only SRT8 in 05 was the 300C...
The '08's going to change, so this one is one of only 666 inferno red Magnums ever to built for North America. I like to think it's number 13... :p |
|
|
| nissanlove |
yes it may have been an 06 actually which makes the price even better. how much do you avg per tank driving as light footed as possible haha. i'm not to fond of the changes for 08, the fron end looks a bit more blocky and squared. i wish they could have found a way to integrate some hid's(i'll never run halogens again).
haha 666 and 13.... very lucky numbers haha. i really need to zaino the murano. claybaring will take me an entire day on it's own(winter was really rough) |

| You by gas for entertainment and I buy cars. (well in the case of the VW Phaeton I buy both) :2: |
|
|
| jaak |
Well, I've seen as much as 25 mpg (US Gallons) hwy, but everyone's passing you to do that...
Normally I'd say 17 day to day, depending on how hard I push the happy pedal. I only need about 1/4 pedal at the most if I'm just driving around "normally".
The new front end, I don't like. But it has HIDs.
People seem split on it, some like, some don't. For the HIDs, I'm working on a pair of headlights that will have BMW HIDs integrated, with hi/low shutter. I almost went for the steerable ones, but I'd rather be driving than figuring that out.
I'm integrating them in such a way that unless you're looking, you won't notice... Why doesn't the Dodge have them? Because the exact same car, the Chrysler 300C SRT8 is supposed to be the "Premium" brand, so they don't allow certain things to work. I'm trying to figure out how to make the rain sensor work on my Magnum. It's connected, the system sees it, but because my VIN is a Dodge VIN, it won't allow it to work.
But we all know I like to hack vehicles! I even bought the Chrysler scan/programming tool for this one... LOL! |

You're a lucky man Don!
I'd love to have a 20 car garage and be able to fill it with lots of four wheeled toys!
But I'm happy I get to play with the one I have... It's a lot of fun!
The Phaeton's quite unique in itself.. I wonder if it could become a collector's car as it ages? |

Funny thing is I never opened this thread as I had been trying to remember the last time I saw Jaak.
LOL, it is Jaak. The ride looks awesome bro!

Hey Bob1, thanks!!! Yeah, can you tell? Who would have ever thought... A Dodge. Not me that's for sure!
I should pop in more often, but there's never enough time, blah blah blah... :D
Wow Don, that is pretty limited...
It was interesting getting numbers out of a friend of mine that works at the plant in Brampton (15 minutes away from me here in Toronto) where my car is built. Actually all the 300's, Chargers and Magnums in North America are built there. There was 141 Magnum SRT8's built for Canada in 2006. Over half of these were black. The smallest number of them were in silver and the rest in Inferno Red.
In 2007, they changed to a non metallic they call TorRed and 2008, the fascia and hood are changing. So it's estimated there are perhaps only 40 Inferno Red Canadian SRT8 Magnums in existance.
I've seen three of them, mine included. So even looking at limited production runs of Charger Daytonas or Super Bees, my car has them beat hands down as they do those in runs of 100 for Canada and runs of 1000 for the US.
The funny side effect of this is, and perhaps you see this too, because the car is so rarely seen, it doesn't seem to matter what year it is, people still stare at it and ask questions. Like my Murano when it was new, but as more Murano's were on the road that didn't happen so much.
What makes me laugh is the number of times I get teenage boys at bus stops yelling "Cool Car!!!! DO A BURNOUT!"
Hey Eric, thanks!!! Good to "see" you!!!
Just coming back for a visit here, puts a big smile on my face... :4: |

i miss being special... nah, what am i saying, the murano will always be special :)
grip. did you go to the factory where your pheaton was built. i just watched a show about it the other day. what an incredible transparent facility. |
|
|
| GripperDon |
| Dresden Germany, The most unique auto factory in the world. Rhwy make the Bently flying Spur there as the Phaeton. Both car share the same chassis and running gear. A lot of folks from the Us have and actually go there to get their car. |
|
|
| nissanlove |
| and some go as far as actually helping to build it. pretty amazing and special. |

Wow, that would be really cool! But I've always been fascinated with German technology...
You guys would have laughed at me. I know a lot of my car is Benz design, but built in Canada/US/Mexico, but when I was installing the Mopar remote start for it, I saw a sticker on the steering column assembly that said it was made in Hamburg. Hey a real German part! LOL! That explains that funky Benz style cruise control lever!
Now if a Benz steering wheel with the paddle shifters would fit....:D |
|
|
| GripperDon |
I called it the OOverbearing Husband and the Recalitarant Bride. The Germans thought the Chrysler folks were dumb and the Chrysler were not going to listen to the Damiler guys acting superior. Add the Unions and it was a marrage doomed to fail. A shame Product wis I thought things were moving in the right direction.
Now they are both back were they were when the union made sense for both, except they are weaker. |
|
|
| jaak |
Thanks Don, yeah, I totally agree...
The German shareholders just didn't like having Chrysler and that, more than anything, drove the shares down.
As far as the LX platform (Charger, Magnum, 300) it's not like any Dodge/Chrysler product I've seen before and I wonder if we'll ever see it again.... |

Seeing how the LX had many previous gen E-class bits in it (a good thing), I doubt we'll see that level of sophistication in new Chrysler products for a while. |
|
|
| nissanlove |
| well, apparently they pretty much stole the company, meaning they paid pennies compared to what daimler paid. |

That's the part that worries me. I wonder what their future products will contain. Now on the plus side, Daimler is still a shareholder in the company, just no longer majority, and word is they will continue to share technology as well as parts, as Benz has profitted from the quantities that Chrysler buys in.
The Challenger's already designed, so I'm hopeful it will still reap the benefits of Daimler designs. After that? Who knows?
So my next step will be careful, and if I don't see a sensible next step, I'll be keeping this car for a very, very long time and just getting something minimal to satisfy corporate requirements when it hits four years old... |
