Oh Murano Gurus,
I'm looking to buy a used Murano and it looks like only the 2003's fit my budget
Anyway, in looking at the safety rating on it, the IIHS website (http://www.iihs.org/ratings/rating.aspx?id=188) says this:
All 2003 and later Murano models manufactured after June 2003 include structural changes to improve occupant protection in frontal offset crashes. In addition, Nissan modified a portion of the padding underneath the carpeting at the driver's right heel on 2004 and later models produced after September 2003 (note: information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on or near the driver door).
The ratings on the site are only for those cars manufactured after Sep 2003 which would have me assuming we're pretty much talking about 2004 model year cars and newer.
So do you guys know the skinny on this? |

cash-
It takes about two months for the MO to go from the factory to your driveway. My MO was built in June and I took ownership in August.
The 2003 MO first went on sale in the US in November 2002 (They sold all of 307 MOs that first month). So your assumption looks to be correct, that the MO's structure was modified for the late 2003 model year.
If you find a MO you like just check the data plate for the date of manufacture.
Good luck.
