Hey guys,
Well, I've been through the manual, 3 visits to my dealer, 4 techs, 3 managers and 4 sales men and STILL no one can tell me why the new version 7.2 NAV DVD that they gave me to replace the old 7.0 version they gave me to "tide me over" will only show destinations in California and Nevada. Can someone PLEASE tell me how the hell I can set this damn thing to the Texas region of the country???? The morons at Mossy Nissan are less than worthless.
Thanks,
Jeff |

I had always thought that you needed to order a specific DVD for the region of the country that you were in. But like I said, all of the cars on the Nissan lot seem to be setup for California and Nevada, despite being located in Houston, Texas. Anyone know what the heck the deal is since no one at the dealership knows their butt from a hole in the ground?
Thanks,

Jeff-
Have you tried calling the Nissan Navigation System Helpdesk? Their number is 888-661-9995.

Are all of the Nissan NAV systems area specific like this?
I thought they had maps for all of the US and Canada, onboard, always available..
Unless you're the UPS guy, what good is a localized NAV system?
If you want to drive from California to Maine how many map DVD's would you need? |

I would agree. My iguidance software has all of North America, including Canada on about 2 GB of space. A DVD holds aprox. 4.7 GB of data, so space should not be an issue. |

| Does anyone else find this absolutely hilarious that you need to TELL the GPS system what region you are in? :2: |

Thanks, njjoe!
I had no idea about that phone number. Of all the asinine things that SHOULD have been covered in the manual and that the 10+ people I talked to at the dealership should have known... just because the REGION is "greyed out", doesn't mean that it can't be selected and changed. Once I did that, I was able to easily switch the region over to the one that has Texas in it and all is well.
Did I mention Mossy Nissan doesn't have an employee with the brains that God gave a piss-ant? :(
Thanks again!

In response to you other guys... yes, it IS STUPID to have to switch the region manually on a GPS system. The only thing that switching the region really does is to narrow down the range of places it looks when you specify you want to go somewhere like "Jones Road". You'd think that once you set your "Home Location", it would be smart enough to set the region FOR you. Ah well, just goes to show that there are lots of people out there in the tech field that don't know which end of a screwdriver to use, you know?
Thanks again for the help.
