I installed a full set of Raybestos ceramic pads on front and rear. I can hear the squeal after few weeks. Did I do something wrong? I even took them off reinstall them with the factory shims and also applied anti squeal goo and will work fine for only a week or two and the squealling be back. So annoying. Sometime I don't hear it and sometime will squeal like crazy. Can anyone help me to fix this problem? I have a 03 MO with 93000km on it.

Tell us more about when they squeal? Only the first time you apply them each drive, or completely randomly?

It happens randomly, and so annoying:(

Maybe the rotors need to be refinished?

Well consensus has been that it's almost the same price for new rotors, so why bother turning them? May be worth a shot.

MUIRANO-
Give the pads a chance to bed themselves in. Drive for a while and see if the noise happens less frequently.

I know alot of people are not going to agree with me but Raybestos brakes are a toss up (junk). I know this from experience and speaking to a Raybestos dealer. I replaced my brakes on my former Quest with Raybestos (best ones) brakes and got 6000 miles out of them. When I took them back, the dealer wouldn't say but his salesman did...Raybestos are junk and that they get complaints every week. The dealer no longer sells Raybestos...
I replaced the pads with another set of Raybestos (thinking that I got a bum batch the first time) and 7000 miles later, squeal. This time one of the pads seperated from the backing plate!
In speaking with others on different boards (Ford boards) they've had the same experience. Again, Raybestos are a toss up. I will never buy Raybestos again after my experience.
Good luck... |
