Chocolate Flavored Tires! - Click HERE for Original Thread

I was browsing the Kumho web site and came across the new Kumho "Aroma" tires. Interestingly thats not just the name but Kumho has spent some time and money into researching new smell for the tires. So they are coming out with tires that have different smell including lavender, Jasmine and later down the road orange smell. Hey! you guys at Kumho- How about some Vanilla and chocolate smell? That will beat lavender and jasmine anyday!

Chocolate Flavored Tires!

This question just begs to be asked... WHY??!?

Why would anyone in their right mind want scented tires? Except for maybe Kris and Eric L., I don't know of anyone who enjoys sniffing around their tires.

Joe,

no I do not like "sniffing" around the tires. Though recently I smelled and "felt" the tire making process just too much......and learned as well too...but flavored tire? Give me a break! Money can be spent in much better way!

Probably helps the garage smell better. I dont care too much for the rubber smell but lavender and Jasmine! Kumho, give me a break.

Thanks

I wonder how those chocolate tires will smell after hitting some skunk roadkill?
GripperDon
After being ground up after disposal and made into a roadway ( which is 100% of the kind on paving we do around here) would they still smell.

Hmmmmmmmm driving down a Lavender smelling road, might not be too bad.

Joe and I usually agree to disagree about maintenance stuff, but he's right - I actually do kind of like the ways tires smell. Yeah I know, I'm weird. :4:

But chocolate? No way, not a fan of chocolate at all. Yes I realize everyone likes chocolate, just not me.

*Runs and hides in the corner*
*Actually I'm just next to the MO taking a whiff from the Yokos*
*Noises in my head tell me I'm not crazy*

Eric

Kumho does not make chocolate flavored tires yet. But Tire Rack will be marketing Lavender, Jasmine and orange flavored tires manufactured by Kumho. I was making a suggestion to Kumho that instead of flowery kinda smell, it would be nice to have chocolate or vanilla flavored tires. What would be your favorite flavor?

Did I miss the part of the article about licking the tires?

I believe everyone should be referring to them as 'scented' tires, not 'flavored' tires... ;)

Favorite flavor? Probably no smell at all. But if I had to pick one, maybe coffee? Yep, the weirdness continues.

Flavored, scented same difference. The whole idea of infusing smell into tires is quite interesting. What will the manufacturers think next? Maybe neon colored tires!

Now I know what my next birthday gift will be - Cake and present all wrapped in one....:2: :2: :2:

I wonder if scented or flavored tires (whether they smell or inspire people to lick them :p ) would also attract animals to the vehicle. I for one would not like my MO overrun by raccoons. :4:

Can you imagine back to when you bought your first new car? Remember opening the door for the first time and just luxuriating in that very first wiff of "new car" smell, your new car smell? Now imagine that experience being completely ruined by the lavender smell of your Kumho tires.

I would like coming out to the garage and smelling Lavender rather than gasolene fumes.

Where's Homer when you need him. He would put an end to this in a heartbeat. Tires are tires. They are supposed to be black and smell like tires.

Can you just image your wife or girlfriend going tire shopping for you while you're at work? "Honey, I replaced those year-old smelly Michelin CTs with a new set of lavender Kumhos, and the dealer threw in a pine tree air freshener for free."

Thank god we live in the USA where you can have neon colored tires with lavender or jasmine smell with some pine fresheners thrown in if someone chooses to. The manufacturers are doing it because someone out there wants it. Unlike what they used to say about USSR many years ago; it went something like you can have any car you want as long as its a black lada!

Thanks

Actually, that quote has it's origins in the good 'ol US of A. Henry Ford was fond of saying you could buy a Ford in the color of your choice, as long as that choice was black.

I agree. This is the Russian version of Henry Ford's saying; pre-perestroika.

Although I don't necessary agree with it, but I think the marketing behind the tires is that people in the racing scene, who like to burn up their tires, will buy them up just like those colored tires. Remember those - owners would burn rubber and leave a yellow or red strip on the pavement. Definitely a novelty item that is not my cup of tea.

I think they should also make peanut butter smelling tires, so every once and a while you would get that Reese's smell when they crosses paths. :D

That will never happen due to liability issues for people who are alregic to peanut butter....:D

Ahhhhh right! Then they can make the Epi-pen smell. Supply and demand - it's all about the marketing.

mmmmm.... Peanut butter! I like it! That gives me an idea. How about using peanut butter as tire shine. It could make the nasty old tires look good and smell like...I am off to Sams Club.

Thanks

Bingo! They've got tires that will show colored smoke when burning, smell nice, etc.

I think the big push is with the whole drifting scene that's showing up now.

Eric I think you hit on something...now if the tires had an animal repellent smell to keep your rims from being peed on...
