Called my local dealer (not nissan) and they had michelin CT and this cooper cs4. never heard of them before though.
Any idea on how good these tires are ? any users out in the wild right now ? |

Michelin CT = $230 per tire
Cooper CS4 T = $188 per tire
CDN$......
so i think its a nice tire based on what i read on some websites.... but i'll wait to hear from any forum user..... |

Somehow the 80,000 miles bothers me.............I do not believe that a quality tire, with nice drive, good handling, good grip in all conditions can last so long.....
I would go with CT. We have reliable opinions on those that I trust......

| my grandpas sentra has cooper tires on it... i'm not a fan. the CT's are a proven tire. this cooper tire seems like it should be a passenger car and is ment for a supple ride... i dunno. find out if you can give it the test try also:) |

Egads thats pricey for tires - at first I thought, oh, its in Canadian, but as of today, its almost equal to 1USD anyways, so man, thats expensive. I know shipping from Tirerack might not be possible due to customs charges, but what about a local tire shop?
Its just me, but I've always thought of Cooper as one of the second tier brands since they are not as well known as Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Yokohama, Dunlop, etc... - I'd go for the CT's in this case based on positive reviews from other owners here. |

Cooper is advertising a 45-day Road Test, so you have nothing to lose. Give them a try. If you like them then keep 'em, if not then take them up on their offer.

I agree... try them out... if they are good you saved a bunch of $, if not you get the other tires.
Please report back on your thoughts on the Cooper's... though many people might feel these are 2nd rate they really are not. Cooper, Big-O and several others are just as good as the "big guys" they just don't spend the $ on advertising so they pass the savings along to the consumer and fill a much needed market segment. This is the same as in most other competative markets... laundry soap, clothing, etc. BTW... I'm not guessing about this, I know for a fact from working with/for companies in these markets. |

Dont know much about Cooper Tires. The specs suggest that it could be a good touring tire. I recently purchased 4 new kumho solus KR21 tires for the MO. I could not be more happier with the choice. They cost $81 per tire including installation,disposal and all that. These tires are quieter,longer lasting and handle better than the OEM Goodyears. Of course I did not know much about Kumho tires before but at half the price of Michelins and Yokos I did not have anything to lose. My opinion regarding Michelins is that they are great tires but you pay a lot just for the name.When I got the quote from Discounttire.com for Michelins it was going to cost me about $680 for the michelins. I got the Kumhos for $364 all inclusive instead.Its been a week since I had the new tires and they are superb.

I agree. But you will still have to pay for the installation,balancing and all that will cost you anywhere form 10-15 bucks per tire. So it may end up costing you much more than you started out with.

muranomax - I'd never heard of Kumho but tirerack has some good reviews of the KR21 and the other touring versions.
njjoe - muranomax makes a good point, though even if you pay $10 per tire and decide to change them out you are still saving money as long as you get then to wave the $10 on the 2nd set. Just do some negotiating... make then pay for the mount/ballance/etc if you decide to replace them. |

| My Kuhmo KR21's were terrible. Could not get rid of vibration, even with Roadforce balancing. Finally dealer took them back and gave me a refund. I am considering the Mastercraft LSR Touring which is made by Cooper, and appears to be almost the same as the CS4 -- but, with an offbrand name. |

| That Cooper CS4 is a very good looking tire, I saw it in person my local tire place. The tire guy strongly recommended them too. But they were almost $50 more per tire than the Kumhos I purchased. |
