Somebody help me. I was lugging some computers in and out of my murano over the weekend. I was pulling one of them out and the corner slipped and hit the horn/airbag on my mo. It busted the case of the airbag, ie the center of the steering wheel, there is a crack in the plastic to the right of the Nissan logo. Im sure that the damage is strictly cosmetic. Nissan wants $620-$800 for a new bag, and they said that i have to buy the entire unit, the casing is not sold separately. So, I am wondering if the airbag from a 2005 maxima would work. I am having much better luck finding them on ebay, or other vendors. I have the 3 spoke steering wheel in my murano. (every one I have talked to asks if it is a 3 or 4 spoke... I had no idea that there was a 4 spoke?). The airbags look identical.
So thats my dilemma. If anyone would want to sell me one, contact me immediately. It needs to be black.

The outer, cosmetic casing is part of the air bag assembly and can not be purchased separately.
Here is a link to a on-line parts supplier that sells the air bag assembly: Driver air bags It looks like the "S" model goes for $363 and the SE and SL units sell for $598.
You might want to try salvage yards in your area.

Thanks for the reply. I have looked into some of the local salvage yards... looks like im out $500 either way I go. I am the current high bidder on one on ebay. It looks identical to the one I have in my mo, but is says that it is for a 05 maxima... If it doesnt work I will just turn around and sell it back on ebay...
