| Are they any brighter bulbs available for the Speedo and Tacho? I noticed my gauges (03 MO) are not as bright as I think they should be, has been from day 1; I noticed on my mother's 03 MO, her gauges are really bright compared to mine; the illumination is turned to its highest position. |

Maybe the problem is with the dimmer and not the bulbs. I'd look for a way to bypass the dimmer to see how bright the display can be.

Thanks. You have any suggestions as to where I should start? Disassemble the switch perhaps? |

I wish it was that simple. I just took a look at the service manual and found out the "dimmer" is actually two switches that send signals to the "Unified Meter Control Unit". This control unit is what actually determines the brightness of the lamps in question. Disassembling the switch won't help.
The manual shows a "Self Diagnosis Mode of Combination Meter". I was unable to tell if this checks the lamp brightness. The procedure is attached below.
Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion, It was a neat feature, however it doesn't work for Illumination. |
